Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara was established through a bill that was signed into law by Governor James Onanefe Ibori in November 2002. This is the result of a partnership between the Delta State Ministry of Education and Westminster University, London. The partnership gave birth to the Delta State Higher Education Project (DSHEP). Located in the agricultural town of Otefe in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Job Description
The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer who is responsible to the Rector for the library services of the Polytechnic.
He/she shall be involved in the smooth running, policy formulation and development of the Polytechnic library.
Requirements
Academic Qualification:
The candidate must possess a PhD with at least 15 years post-qualification cognate experience or a Master of Legal Studies (MLS) with 18 years post-qualification cognate experience with evidence of registration with the relevant professional library body.
There must be evidence of journal publications and seminar/conference papers. Such a candidate must have at least published 12 journal articles and 21 conference/seminar papers or five chapters in the standard textbook(s) or two textbooks.
In addition, the candidate must:
Be a person of proven integrity.
Be able to provide good leadership quality, inspiration and mentorship for library staff.
Be intellectually and professionally sound.
Be focused, innovative and a good team player.
Must have worked in recognised tertiary institution(s) and attained the rank of Chief Librarian.
Show evidence of community service.
Required Experience:
The candidate must have at least 15 years (for PhD holders) or 18 years (for Master of Legal Studies - MLS holders) of cognate experience, with a minimum of five years in a tertiary institution.
Age Limit:
Applicants who will be above 60 years as of 2nd August 2025 should not apply.
The successful candidates shortlisted should be 60 years or below at the time of assumption of duty on 3 August 2025.
Computer Literacy:
Applicants must show evidence of computer literacy and demonstrable ability to use e-Granary, MS Word and other packages in the discharge of duty to ensure effective service delivery in the 21st Century.
Health Condition:
The applicant must enjoy good health and should be able to cope with the rigours of the office of the Librarian
Duration of Appointment
The appointment shall be for a single term of 5 years only.
Salary
The salary is consolidated and as approved by the Delta State Government.
