Job Description
The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for driving business development, managing sales and marketing activities, building client relationships, and ensuring the execution of the company's strategies in West Africa’s solar market.
The role combines both strategic and operational responsibilities, focusing on achieving revenue targets, managing budgets, overseeing sales teams, and implementing the company’s growth plans.
Key Responsibilities & Key Result Areas (KRA)
International Business Development & Strategy:
Implement international business development activities across potential countries.
Develop and execute business plans and strategies for identified markets (as per Annual Business Plan).
Prepare business plans for order intake within the fiscal year, ensuring alignment with company targets.
Achieve revenue targets as per ABP and support the team in meeting their individual sales goals.
Monitor progress and adjust plans to achieve the desired order book numbers on a quarterly basis.
Sales and Marketing Activities:
Identify and manage sales and marketing activities in target markets to expand the business.
Develop and implement pricing strategies according to customer budgets and procurement methods.
Analyse market trends, perform competitive pricing, and review competitor strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Build and execute a brand-building strategy using a mix of marketing channels such as radio, TV, print, OOH, and social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter).
Ensure social media presence is increased and managed effectively to promote the brand.
Client & Relationship Management:
Manage all customer communication and build strong, lasting relationships with clients to ensure smooth order execution and timely payment collection.
Focus on securing contracts with Corporates, NGOs, Banks, House of Worship etc. to develop sales opportunities,
Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient communication, problem-solving, and meeting their expectations.
Retail and Direct Sales Management:
Establish and implement strategic incentive plans for retail and direct sales channels targeting residential customers.
Manage and oversee three company-owned showrooms while targeting onboarding 35-50 retail stores to expand the company’s reach.
Organize quarterly dealer meets, training sessions, and conferences to enhance retail sales team capabilities and knowledge.
Team Leadership & Training:
Build, train, and manage the retail sales team by establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), setting performance expectations, and conducting regular performance reviews.
Upskill the existing ASM team to transition solar home systems to residential systems through regular training programs.
Nominate up to two team members for online training courses (minimum of 3 days and maximum of 10 days).
Conduct team-building exercises to foster a collaborative and high-performing sales team environment.
Sales Forecasting & Budget Management:
Prepare monthly and quarterly sales forecasts, ensuring they align with the business targets.
Coordinate with the management team to maintain budgets, monitor progress, and participate in monthly reviews of sales performance.
CRM Implementation:
Implement, optimize and maintain CRM-based sales workflows to streamline internal processes, monitor sales performance, and improve efficiency.
Ensure the sales team’s CRM system is up-to-date and utilized effectively for tracking leads, opportunities, and customer communications.
Product & Technical Support:
Provide support to the factory for the parallel application of 3,8 and 20 KVA inverters and assist with the repurposing of the existing Freedom Series 15 KW enclosures for new models (40/60 KW).
Collaborate with the technical team to ensure that the products meet customer requirements and are delivered according to specifications.
Exhibitions & Conferences:
Oversee company participation in relevant exhibitions, conferences, and business meets to increase brand visibility and generate leads.
Maintain an active presence in industry events to foster networking and business growth opportunities.
Operations Oversight:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Lagos office, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of tasks.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies for business activities in the region.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in technical sales in the solar or renewable energy sector.
Proven track record in international export, particularly in Nigeria & Ghana
Strong experience in business development, sales strategy, team management, and customer relationship management.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of solar energy solutions (PV, BESS, etc.).
Proficient in sales forecasting, CRM software, and managing sales teams.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate market trends, pricing strategies, and competitors.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to train, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team.

Proactive, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Additional Requirements:
Fluency in English; French is a plus for certain African markets.
Willingness to travel within the region as needed.
Strong presentation skills and ability to engage with senior-level clients and stakeholders.
Salary
N180,000 - N250,000 monthly.
