Job Title: Architect

Locations: Lagos

About the Job

• The Architect is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, designing, and/or facilitating the execution of new building designs, building expansions, renovation or interior designs, and all related architectural work according to the needs, desires, and financial resources.
• He / She will be expected to put on the creativity hat and be nifty in every design.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and implementation of architectural designs for a project.
• Identifies, through consultation and research, the requirements, approximate budget, timetable, and possible needs for projects.
• Coordinate the activities of the team to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of construction.
• Attempts to identify through collaboration with the Project team, the priorities in terms of needs vs. desires.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of architectural project procedures and standards.
• Assists in defining their priorities and vision by preparing preliminary sketches of options and project modeling.
• Prepares and presents designs, specifications, estimated costs, and proposed construction schedule.
• Creates detailed plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations; presents plans to management for review and approval.
• Prepares scale drawings and contract requirements and submits for bids.
• Collaborates with the project team to select and award construction contracts.
• Working closely with a team of other professionals to meet the design specifications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture required.
• Five years of relevant experience.
• Membership of a related board.

Desirable:

• Master’s degree in Architecture.
• Having schooled in a foreign university or having related work experience in Europe, Asia and the Middle East or North America.
• Project Management Professional Certification.
• Well-versed in the latest trends in modern Architecture.

Skills and Competencies:

• An Innate flair for and understanding of the Real Estate Market in Nigeria, Africa and globally.
• A good understanding of emerging trends in Real Estate.
• Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, negotiation and consultation skills.
• Strategic planning and implementation.
• Time management skills
• Ability to produce 2D and 3D design drawings for meeting presentations. Excellent 3D visualization and animation skills
• Extremely proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoDesk Revit, Archicad, Newforma, etc.
• Ability to lead and take ownership.
• Ability to think out-of-the-box.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Knowledgeable in the applicable building codes.
• Ability to visualize space in three-dimensions, have a good understanding of construction technologies and be an effective Project Manager
• Ability to translate ideas into visual and/or tangible references such as drawings or models that are functional, creative and sustainable.
