Tasks and Responsibilities
Building on the needs assessment and emergency response plan prepared for Nigeria, lead and manage the implementation of emergency and resilience activities.
Coordinate and supervise all project focal points and sets, manage all project task forces.
Ensure a smooth project budget and activities monitoring and guide the senior management on time in any decision making during the projects/programmes cycle
Prepare, coordinate and manage detailed work plans for all the emergency and resilience projects and programmes.
Supervise preparation of various written project and programme updates and reports.
Manage and supervise the daily work of the emergency and resilience team, providing technical support and strategic guidance;
Coordinate outreach activities and conducts training workshops, seminars, makes presentations on assigned topics/activities; Support the tracking and monitoring of all emergency projects output and budget delivery in line with project timelines and in accordance with the established FAO project management guild lines.
Liaise closely with the FAO country communication team to design and implement annual communication and visibility plans for all FAO emergency and resilience projects and in accordance with donor specific donor requirements.
Lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties.
Provide support, information and regular updates to the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC). Contribute to the formulation of HNO, HRP and monitoring of HRP achievements.
Develop appropriate strategic planning and management tools to improve resilience and preparedness.
Perform other related duties as required.
Reporting Lines:
The Consultant works under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, the direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office, and the functional guidance of the Office for Emergency and Resilience (OER), the Programme Implementation Specialist will coordinate the implementation FAO’s emergency and resilience operations and strategies in Yemen.
The Consultant is also required to exercise a strong collaboration and coordination with the Units of FAO in country and the Project Partners.
Organizational Setting:
FAO assists the Government of Nigeria to formulate and implement policies, programs and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
As part of it, FAO Nigeria implements and Emergency and Resilience programme which is funded by a diverse set of donors and that is aligned to the Humanitarian Response Plan of the United Nations in Nigeria.
Candidates will be Assessed Against the Following
Minimum Requirements
University degree in project management, agriculture engineering, rural development or related fields.
At least 5 years' experience in projects/programme implementation, MEAL and reporting in multiple complex contexts, emergency context will be and added value.
