As part of our expanding supply chain operations, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to support the procurement team in the efficient acquisition of goods, tools, and services required for field and plant operations.
The Procurement Assistant will support the Procurement Officer/Manager in executing the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, purchasing, tracking, and documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, knowledge of procurement procedures, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced and remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase requests, purchase orders, and vendor documentation.
Source quotes from approved suppliers and support price negotiations under supervision.
Follow up on deliveries and ensure timely receipt of materials at the site.
Maintain accurate procurement records, including invoices, supplier files, and inventory inputs.
Liaise with the store and warehouse team to verify deliveries and resolve supply discrepancies.
Assist in the evaluation of suppliers based on quality, service, and price.
Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, budget limits, and procurement standards.
Coordinate with user departments (technical, maintenance, admin) to confirm specifications and lead times.
Support periodic market surveys and local vendor engagement in Kebbi and surrounding regions.
Generate procurement reports for management review.
Requirements and Qualifications
OND / HND / Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing & Supply, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance,Logistics & Transport Management, or related fields.
Minimum of 2 years experience in procurement or supply chain, preferably in mining, construction, or manufacturing industries.
Strong knowledge of procurement principles and vendor sourcing.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and procurement-related software/tools.
Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
High level of accuracy, integrity, and accountability.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a remote site location.
Knowledge of local suppliers and logistics channels in the North-West region is an advantage.
