Mavin’s Licensing Legal (IP Clearance) Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing intellectual property (IP) rights, music licensing, and clearance processes to ensure compliance with legal and industry standards.
This role demands a legal professional with strong expertise in copyright, licensing agreements, and IP risk mitigation within the entertainment and music industries
As the Licensing Legal (IP Clearance) Specialist, you will be responsible for handling licensing negotiations, reviewing contracts, and ensuring all content used across Mavin projects is cleared for use.
You will work closely with legal, A&R, marketing, and business development teams to protect Mavin’s IP assets and facilitate rights acquisitions.
Here’s What You Will Be Doing
IP Clearance & Licensing:
Review and clear intellectual property rights for music, visuals, and brand-related content.
Conduct rights assessments to ensure compliance with copyright laws and industry regulations.
Negotiate and secure licensing agreements for commercial use, sync placements, and collaborations.
Provide strategic legal advice on licensing deals and rights acquisitions.
Contract Drafting & Negotiation:
Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, synchronization agreements, and publishing deals.
Ensure all contracts comply with legal standards and company policies.
Liaise with external legal teams, rights holders, and industry organizations.
Risk Assessment & Compliance:
Identify potential legal risks in content usage and provide mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with global intellectual property laws, including copyright and trademark regulations.
Maintain records of all licensing agreements, rights clearances, and legal correspondences.
Rights Management & Documentation:
Maintain acomprehensive database of all licensed materials and their usage rights.
Collaborate with finance teams to ensure royalty payments and licensing fees are processed correctly.
Advise internal teams on rights limitations and proper attribution of licensed content.
Industry Research & Legal Updates:
Stay updated with changes in copyright laws, licensing trends, and digital media regulations.
Provide training sessions on IP rights, licensing best practices, and legal risk management.
Monitor evolving entertainment and media licensing structures to ensure Mavin remains competitive.
Other Administrative Duties Include:
Collaborate with internal departments to align licensing strategies with business goals.
Assist in resolving disputes related to licensing or IP infringement claims.
Prepare reports on licensing activities, contract negotiations, and legal insights.
Requirements
Bring Your Vibe:
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B), Intellectual Property, or a related field.
5+years of experience in music licensing, IP law, or legal affairs within the entertainment industry.
Strong knowledge of copyright laws, publishing rights, and licensing frameworks.
Proven track record of negotiating and securing licensing agreements.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
