INTERSOS Nigeria is an independent humanitarian organization that assists the victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts and exclusion. As part of the INTERSOS Security team, the role provides support in the implementation of INTERSOS’s Security Policies and Procedures and security plans within the area of implementation program.
Responsibilties
Liaise with local authorities, INTERSOS staff and facilitate continuity of INTERSOS Programs
Linking & networking with communities, individuals, organizations and to help ensure INTERSOS staff and assets’ security
Ensure the FSL project activities sites are safe for project implementation
Ensures FSL project assets are safe at the field and project site
Manage security guards at the project sites.
Assist Security Officer in staff safety and security matters and act as a backup security focal point
Ensure all vehicles are equipped with updated fire extinguishers, first aid kits and INTERSOS emergency numbers,
Ensure all safety protocols and policies are implemented following the safety instructions.
Coordinate staff movement in the field – with coordination of Security officer or SFP at the field base offices
Assist in implementing INTERSOS safety policies, protocols, and procedures under technical supervision.
Update security communication trees and maintain staff contact information.
Maintain relevant safety documentation, data and records for the areas of concern under technical guidance.
Communicate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Contingency Plans (CP), threat assessments, and other safety policies for staff.
Ensure that appropriate access controls are in place for At INTERSOS facilities.
Support in the completion of Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs).
Conduct briefings and context updates
Report all security incidents to the security officer
Tracking the location of INTERSOS safety assets including, but not limited to, communications equipment, first aid kits, and so on.
Position Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of an ND / NCE qualification
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in security-sensitive environments (Borno North East)
Undergone formal or informal training in security.
Personal requirements:
Manages stress and complexity
Actively promotes safety and security
Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training
Knowledge of computer software MS, Excel and Power point.
Excellent communication skills- English both oral and written,
Languages o Ability to speak Local languages in Borno, North Eastern Nigerian (Kanuri a plus)
Highly motivated, flexible, reliable and trustworthy.
