Job Title: Start-up Consultant, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD)

PATH's Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) program is a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refines and develops tools and approaches, invests in national programs, and builds data to empower national governments to pursue malaria elimination.
The Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA) at PATH works in partnership to develop and deliver lifesaving vaccines to women, children, and communities around the globe. Over the last three decades our work has resulted in more than 24 vaccines against the most dangerous childhood illnesses.
PATH seeks a Start-up Consultant for Nigeria to support start-up of activities for multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Develop detailed start-up plan for lifesaving malaria and/or infectious disease surveillance activities in partnership with PATH team.
Collaborate with the PATH Nigeria Malaria team and projects’ global teams to align on priority activities, recruiting needs, and operational needs in compliance with USG contract regulations
Ensure up-to-date tracking of all processes in centralized/on-line document.
Participate in frequent meetings to get or give updates on various start-up activities.
Identify, mitigate, and elevate potential risks during the start-up phase.
Partner with PATH’s Regional Operational Lead to ensure alignment with organizational requirements.
Technical Assistance:
Liaise with Ministry of Health officials to inform workplan design and prioritization of activities, in line with guidance from USG on lifesaving activities.
Coordinate with PATH MNTD/CVIA Global technical teams to draft workplan(s), aligning with project-level guidance.
Meet with other implementing partners such as PMI EVOLVE, GHSC-PSM, Global Fund, etc. to ensure coordination of efforts and identify opportunities for leverage or efficiencies.
Connect with State-level actors to determine current gaps in services and immediate priorities that align with the project’s objectives.
Human Resources & Office Planning:
Support recruitment efforts (sourcing, interviews, onboarding) as required
Requirements
Demonstrated experience with project start-up and malaria service delivery in Nigeria (15+ years)
Demonstrated experience with USAID/USG contracts and/or cooperative agreements
Demonstrated experience working with the Ministry of Health and NMEP
Fluency in English
Currently based in Abuja
Travel:
Consultants currently located in Nigeria are preferred. For in-country travel that is required, PATH will support accommodation and expenses for agreed sub-national visits. Agreement on the purpose and dates of travel will be needed prior to travel authorization.
Covered travel will include meals and incidental expenses (M&IE), lodging, and travel expenses (i.e., car hire).
Reasonable mileage and/or taxi fares for in-person meetings required in Abuja will be reimbursed.
