Grade School Teacher (Key Stage 1 & 2) at Standard Bearers School (SBS)

Posted on Mon 30th Jun, 2025 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Standard Bearers School emerged during a challenging era in Nigeria's educational landscape marked by a decline in the quality of education amidst a proliferation of schools. Founded on January 7th, 1997, SBS was conceived with a dedicated team of educators and a small group of students. The vision behind SBS was to establish a school that values both academic excellence and creativity equally.

SBS transcends the conventional definition of a school; it is a tight-knit family offering a comprehensive educational experience for parents seeking a technologically advanced, 21st-century learning environment for their children. We function as a community of lifelong learners who not only recognize but celebrate the unique worth of each individual, supporting them on their journey of self-discovery. At SBS, our commitment remains steadfast. We aspire to provide our students with a robust foundation and a promising start in life. Our educational approach focuses on nurturing independence, confidence, and responsibility, guiding our students to evolve into valuable, responsible members of our community.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

  • Reflect the school’s values and mission in all areas of school life with a calm, focused, and collaborative attitude.

Lesson Planning and Instruction:

  • Submit well-thought-out lesson plans weekly.
  • Apply differentiated learning strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners while maintaining academic rigor.
  • Bring energy, structure, and innovation to classroom delivery, drawing from best practices in international-grade learning environments.

Classroom Management:

  • Ensure the learning environment is clean, organized, and safe.
  • Be responsible for the careful handling and shutdown of all digital equipment (flat panels, smart boards, computers).
  • Demonstrate effective class control and a nurturing demeanor while ensuring every child feels valued and engaged.
  • Take full responsibility for all classroom assets and manage pupil movement with care and precision.

Student Assessment and Academic Reporting:

  • Regularly assess pupils’ understanding using quizzes, projects, and formative assessments.
  • Track each child’s academic journey, prepare comprehensive reports, and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain clear academic records and submit timely progress updates to the school leadership.

Resource Management and Accountability:

  • Manage and monitor all teaching materials, ensuring minimal loss or damage.
  • Submit weekly logs detailing classroom resource usage and condition.
  • Ensure that all class activities are properly documented and archived, including photos and key milestones.

Behavioural Expectations and Student Discipline:

  • Promote respectful behaviour, self-management, and clear rules.
  • Monitor and manage pupil safety during all activities, ensuring that no child leaves the school unsupervised.
  • Act swiftly and professionally in reporting absences, discipline issues, or parent complaints to the right quarters.

Communication and Team Collaboration:

  • Maintain open, proactive communication with parents, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Draft class newsletters, memos, and weekly reports as assigned.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan events, share best practices, and resolve classroom-related issues.
  • Support enrichment activities such as school clubs, creative days, and excursions with enthusiasm.

Contribution to School Culture and Growth:

  • Attend all school events and support activities beyond the classroom.
  • Exhibit attentiveness to the school’s image, ensuring students are properly dressed and represented at public events.
  • Collaborate with marketing and admin departments to provide digital content showcasing student learning experiences.
  • Model the vision of the school by championing personal responsibility, excellence, and a heart for community.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Monitor and enforce child safety measures at all times.
  • Maintain hygiene standards and report potential hazards or safety breaches immediately.
  • Follow ICT safety protocols and uphold all policies related to student safeguarding and wellbeing.

Additional Responsibilities and Development:

  • Take on delegated assignments from school leaders with commitment and integrity.
  • Step in for colleagues as needed and work collaboratively to support shared goals.
  • Actively seek professional development opportunities to stay informed and grow in competence and leadership.
