Job Summary
Represent and manage quality, health, occupational safety, and environment (QHSE) of the Company organization by planning, developing, implementing and maintaining the corresponding management systems in compliance with corporate QHSE methods and guidelines.
The QHSE Manager is responsible for Eunisell’s health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and systems. H/She is responsible for maintaining and improving safety in the work place and making sure that safety policies are adhered to.
Essential Job Functions
Administrative:
Co-ordinate and participate in the QHSE training programs.
Co-ordinate and participate in the QHSE audit and inspection programs.
Monitor toolbox talks.
Periodically Schedule and attend Monthly safety meetings and ensure follow up of items and concerns.
Manage the implementation of the Quality Management System
Carry out daily reviews of current work practices on all locations.
Monitor the performance of QHSE team and provide any expertise support as/when required.
Identify and control work place hazards.
Initiate and co-ordinate the investigation team in establishing the root cause of any incident, as necessary, and to ensure that corrective and preventive actions have been established and implemented.
Ensure safe systems of work are in place and ensure legal requirements for health and safety in Nigeria is maintained in the work place.
Investigate and respond proactively to health and safety concerns and incidents ensuring that recommendations are made and implemented following such investigations.
Prepare, share and follow up on incident/accidents alerts and reports.
Maintain a chemical and hazard substance register.
Management:
Advising management on defining QHSE policies, plans and objectives, as per requirements of customer, statutory, regulatory and corporate QHSE.
Conduct gap analysis on compliance obligations pertaining to QHSE and report to senior management.
Managing risks and opportunities for the QHSE fields.
Carry out specific risk assessment, HSE assessments (monitoring and review) and risk management plans in collaboration with colleagues.
Accountable to deliver QHSE contractual KPIs.
Management representative for the Eunisell quality system
Developing and implementing QHSE improvement plans and programs.
Implementing organization's succession plan by effective training and education programs for the department.
Plan and implement QHSE training programs, which includes developing training modules, training the QHSE trainers program.
Promoting a QHSE culture among employees; improve employee participation on QHSE management.
Managing QHSE performance of sub-contractors.
Overseeing document control, record keeping and change management.
Ensure emergency preparedness, business continuity and response plans are planned and implemented.
Driving monitoring and verification programs which includes periodic inspections, internal and external audits
Managing incidents and non-conformities by effective investigation and corrective action planning.
Analyse, review and report to senior management on QHSE leading and lagging indicators and trends.
Coordinating, delivering and reporting on customer QHSE management plans and programs.
Contribute to staff induction, training and other programs relating to health and safety.
Other responsibilities:
To carry out all work undertaken in a positive and diligent manner which reflect the aims and philosophy of Eunisell.
To respond positively to all reasonable requests for advice and assistance.
To maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with Eunisell Policy.
To maintain up to date professional knowledge and skill through reading, research and ongoing professional training.
To observe company policies, procedures and guidelines for good practice.
Ensure that tool box talk, PTW and pressure test permit are carried out and signed before pressure testing is done and other tasks that involve load and offloading drums of chemicals.
Ensure all firefighting equipments are in good working condition
Ensure safe entry and exit of trucks entering the company, as well as forklifts and cranes.
Responsible for weekly QHSSE report
Ensure all files and documents are up to date.
Ensure all safety signs within the company are in appropriate location
Any other duties as required.
Minimum Educational Requirements
B.Sc/HND in related field.
Industry Standard diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Membership of any professional body.
Minimum Experience Required:
6 years practical experience with Quality Management System Implementation and HSE
Training/Skills Required:
QMS Auditor
QMS Practitioner
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all regulatory requirements relating to Safety, Health and Environment.
