Job Title: Initiative Lead - Cards & Payments

Job Purpose
The Initiative Lead – Cards & Payments is responsible for owning and scaling all card-related products and digital payment infrastructure across Kolomoni’s ecosystem.
This includes virtual and physical card issuance, card transaction routing, POS integration, payment gateway operations, and partner enablement for offline/online payments.
The role also leads innovation around alternative digital payment solutions—wallet-to-wallet transfers, peer-to-peer payments, QR codes, and debit automation—ensuring high availability, security, and customer satisfaction across all use cases.
Lead the product lifecycle for Kolomoni’s virtual and physical card products (e.g., AfriGo, Mastercard, Verve).
Define the roadmap and go-to-market plan for payment-related services and card innovations (e.g., tokenization, contactless).
Ensure alignment with Kolomoni’s digital wallet, onboarding, and transaction framework.
Partnerships & Platform Enablement:
Manage relationships with issuing partners, card processors, switching companies (e.g., Interswitch, NIBSS), and card schemes.
Collaborate with the Channel Managers to deliver consistent and optimized card/payment experiences across Mobile, USSD, and Corporate platforms.
Payment Infrastructure Oversight:
Collaborate with the tech team to oversee the development and integration of APIs for card issuance, PIN management, card blocking, and transaction history.
Work with engineering to ensure reliability, scalability, and fraud protection of the payments stack.
User Experience & Support:
Drive card activation, funding, transaction success, and usage through thoughtful customer journeys and campaign interventions.
Collaborate with Customer Support and Ops to manage card-related escalations, chargebacks, and reconciliations.
Risk, Compliance, and Reconciliation:
Ensure full adherence to CBN regulations, PCI-DSS standards, card KYC, and anti-fraud policies.
Partner with Risk and Finance teams to ensure end-to-end reconciliation, float monitoring, and merchant settlements.
Additional Responsibilities:
Design and pilot informal economy card usage models (e.g., trader cards, market cashout cards) that support Oyo-based financial inclusion goals.
Work with the Business Transformation Manager – Oyo State to identify and embed Kolomoni cards within micro-branches, POS locations, and experience centers across underserved LGAs (e.g., Saki, Fiditi, Gbagi).
Launch targeted “Save to Card” and “POS Card” bundles for market women, artisans, and local cooperatives, integrating card issuance with agency savings campaigns.
Deploy local card activation agents in collaboration with field teams to drive regional card uptake and first-use behavior.
Enable transporters, cooperatives, and local retailers to accept Kolomoni cards as part of a broader merchant ecosystem.
Collaborate with CX and Marketing to create regional card loyalty programs (e.g., “Dugbe Card Rush,” “Oja-Oba Cashback Drive”).
Implement and track first-use education flows for Yoruba-speaking users on cards, PINs, and payment safety.
Required Qualification and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Statistic or related fields
1 - 3 years of experience (preferably in fintech or banking).
Skills:
Deep knowledge of card issuing, acquiring, and transaction lifecycles.
Understanding of EMV, PCI-DSS, 3D Secure, tokenization, BIN sponsorship, and ISO 8583.
Familiarity with platforms like Interswitch, NIBSS, and Appzone.
Excellent stakeholder management, data interpretation, and risk awareness.
