Job Title: Business Development & Grant Writing Assistant
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Development and Grant Writing Assistant to support our growth and funding initiatives.
This role involves researching funding opportunities, drafting grant proposals, assisting with business development strategies, and maintaining donor/grantor relationships.
The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, a keen eye for detail, and an interest in nonprofit, corporate, or social enterprise development.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Writing & Fundraising Support:
Research and identify grant opportunities(government, foundation, corporate).
Conduct donor research and identify calls for proposals that align with FID’s focus areas.
Support in writing concept notes, grant proposals, and letters of inquiry.
Assist in writing, editing, and submitting grant proposals, LOIs (Letters of Inquiry), and reports.
Maintain a grants calendar to track open call deadlines, submissions, and follow-ups.
Collaborate with program teams to gather data, budgets, and impact metrics for proposals.
Support donor stewardship(thank-you letters, updates, and compliance reporting).
Business Development & Partnerships:
Support strategic planning around funding and partnership development.
Track partnership engagements, MoUs, and donor correspondence.
Monitor donor platforms (e.g., UN, EU, USAID, BHA, local embassies, private foundations).
Support the preparation of fundraising materials and reports
Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.
Assist in developing partnership proposals and pitch decks.
Help maintain aCRM/database of funders, partners, and prospects.
Support outreach to potential clients, sponsors, or collaborators.
Track and analyze funding trends and competitor strategies.
Administrative & Analytical Tasks:
Prepare reports, presentations, and progress summaries for stakeholders.
Assist in budget development for proposals and business plans.
Schedule meetings and coordinate communications with funders/partners.
Monitor and report on grant outcomes and business development KPIs.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
1+ years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or business development(internship experience acceptable).
Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills(samples may be requested).
Familiarity with grant databases(e.g., Grants.gov, Foundation Directory Online).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred (Bonus) Skills:
Knowledge of non profit/government funding cycles.
Experience with budgeting or financial storytelling.
Graphic design or Canva skills for creating pitch materials.
