We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Ode-Remo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time (On-site)
Job Summary
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our interdisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in designing and validating mechanical systems and structures for satellites, antenna systems, support infrastructure, and IoT hardware—ensuring everything we build can withstand the harshest of environments.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Proforce Galaxies, you will design, analyze, and test mechanical subsystems across the entire space-tech lifecycle—from satellite payload structures to terrestrial communication systems.
Your work will contribute to ensuring mechanical integrity, thermal control, manufacturability, and long-term reliability in both space and ground environments.
You’ll collaborate closely with aerospace, electrical, and embedded systems engineers to deliver high-performance systems across upstream (spacecraft), midstream (ground stations), and downstream (user infrastructure and services) domains.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design for Spacecraft:
Design and model satellite structures including frames, thermal management systems, and payload mounts using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX.
Ground Station Equipment Design:
Develop robust mechanical assemblies for ground infrastructure including antenna mounts, housing units, environmental enclosures, and cable management systems.
Thermal & Structural Analysis:
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, and vibration simulations using tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or COMSOL, ensuring all designs meet aerospace standards.
Testing & Qualification:
Plan and support mechanical qualification campaigns (thermal vacuum, shock, vibration, drop tests) for both space and ground systems in accordance with mission-specific requirements.
Manufacturing Support:
Collaborate with production teams to ensure parts are manufacturable, cost-effective, and optimized for integration, including design-for-assembly and tolerance considerations.
Deployment Mechanisms:
Design dynamic mechanisms such as solar panel deployers, antenna deployment systems, and gimbal tracking structures for satellites and mobile ground stations.
Hardware Reliability for Downstream Systems:
Support downstream IoT and satellite-connected devices by designing rugged, compact enclosures and support fixtures.
Troubleshooting & Post-Launch Support:
Investigate and resolve mechanical failures during prototyping, environmental testing, launch preparation, and on-orbit operations.
Documentation & Reporting:
Create detailed engineering drawings, technical analysis reports, material specifications, and test documentation in compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Mission Planning & Design Reviews:
Participate in interdisciplinary reviews, risk assessments, and planning meetings to ensure mechanical systems align with mission timelines and technical goals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in aerospace, automotive, robotics, or industrial sectors.
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor).
Strong skills in FEA analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
Experience with environmental testing protocols and thermal control systems.
Knowledge of material properties and selection for aerospace applications (metals, composites, thermal insulators).
Familiarity with manufacturing processes including CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, and composite layups.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and dynamic R&D environments.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with satellite bus design or CubeSat structures.
Understanding of thermal coatings, radiators, and heat pipe systems.
Familiarity with mission simulation tools or spacecraft lifecycle development.
Exposure to on-orbit mechanical systems and post-launch diagnostics.
