Job Title: Project Lead (Quantity Surveyor)

Job Summary

• The Projects Lead is responsible for end-to-end cost management, supervision and administration of all the company’s building construction and maintenance projects assigned to ensure cost-effective, timely and quality delivery in line with the company’s growth and expansion objectives.

• Ensure company construction and maintenance projects meet quality standards and stakeholder requirements.
• Prepare or review cost estimates, prepare tender documents, manage budgets and financial reports for projects, and monitor project costs to stay within budget.
• Manage construction and remodelling projects, scheduling to meet target opening dates.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, legal counsel, contractors, and subcontractors on contracts, change orders, and approvals.
• Oversee contractors and subcontractors' performance and cost compliance throughout pre-construction, construction, and project close-out phases.
• Conduct site visits to verify actual work done
• Coordinate with accounting to ensure all subcontract documents are fully executed before payments.
• Work with Operations Managers to ensure the timely procurement of equipment and fittings in line with project milestones.
• Oversee pre-qualification, bidding, and tender processes for contracts.
• Advise on sourcing local materials to optimize cost and quality.
• Coordinate with project teams to align construction and fit-out requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Sundry Markets' values, policies, and all statutory requirements for supermarket projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in quantity surveying or a related field
• Professional certification (NIQS, or equivalent).
• 8+ years’ experience as a quantity surveyor or Cost Engineer, with demonstrable experience in handling a similar role on commercial retail projects (Supermarkets, malls, or commercial fit-outs).
• Proven track record of managing high-ticket projects
• Vast knowledge of Nigerian Building Code (NBC) and State regulations (for projects in various states), SON standards for construction materials.
• Ability to lead projects under tight deadlines
• Strong negotiation skills for dealing with local contractors/vendors.
• Fluency in local procurement practices and risk management in Nigeria’s construction sector.
