Job Description
The Compliance Officer is saddled with the responsibility for ensuring that Crescent Rice Mill operates in full compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and ethical practices across all areas of its operations.
This includes compliance oversight in paddy sourcing, processing, inventory, labor practices, health & safety, environmental standards, and financial operations.
The officer will implement monitoring systems, conduct regular audits, and proactively address potential risks to safeguard the company’s integrity and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, including environmental, health and safety, food safety, and labor regulations.
Liaise with government agencies such as SON, MAN, Ministry of Agriculture, and other relevant bodies to ensure the mill meets statutory requirements.
Ensure up-to-date registrations, licenses, and permits required for mill operations.
Monitor compliance in the sourcing of paddy from local suppliers, ensuring ethical and traceable procurement practices.
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in milling, drying, packaging, and storage of rice products.
Monitor weighing, loading, and offloading activities to prevent fraud and losses.
Internal Policy & Procedure Compliance:
Develop and update internal compliance manuals, SOPs, and operational checklists.
Monitor employee adherence to HR policies, attendance, code of conduct, and workplace discipline.
Collaborate with HR to conduct compliance training and promote a culture of accountability.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure implementation and enforcement of OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) and Waste Management policies.
Conduct regular safety audits, fire drills, and ensure all staff use appropriate PPE.
Report and follow up on workplace incidents or breaches in safety procedures.
Audit & Risk Management:
Conduct periodic compliance audits across departments (procurement, production, logistics, finance).
Identify gaps or risks in operations and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain comprehensive records of audits, incidents, and corrective measures.
Reporting:
Prepare and submit monthly compliance reports to senior management.
Escalate non-compliance issues and advise on disciplinary or corrective measures.
Document all compliance activities, inspection results, and regulatory correspondence.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 Monthly.
