Job Description

• We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of our backend systems.
• In this senior role, you will mentor junior engineers, guide architectural decisions, and ensure the reliability and scalability of our health tech platform.
• Your expertise will drive innovation and help mDoc deliver impactful solutions for underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities (Additional/Enhanced)
Technical Leadership:

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Serve as a technical expert, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and peers.
• Drive technical discussions and decisions to ensure alignment with mDoc's goals and priorities.

Strategic Collaboration:

• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and translate business needs into scalable backend solutions.
• Influence and contribute to the long-term vision for mDoc’s technology stack and backend systems.

System Optimization & Scalability:

• Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance and scalability to support a rapidly growing user base.
• Design and implement monitoring tools to ensure the stability, reliability, and security of backend services.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

• Explore and implement new technologies and frameworks to enhance backend capabilities.
• Lead initiatives to improve code quality, development processes, and team productivity.

Security & Compliance Leadership:

• Establish and enforce best practices for backend security and compliance, ensuring adherence to industry standards (e.g., HIPAA).
• Conduct regular audits and implement robust measures to secure sensitive healthcare data.

Team and Workflow Management:

• Oversee version control processes using Bitbucket and manage Agile workflows with Jira.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and manage deployment processes on CCP.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5 – 7+ years of professional experience in backend development with a proven track record of designing and scaling complex systems.
• Advanced expertise in server-side programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
• Deep knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and data modeling.
• Extensive experience building and maintaining APIs and microservices in production environments.
• Proficiency in working with cloud platforms, especially CCP, and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
• Strong experience with Agile development processes, using Bitbucket and Jira to manage workflows.
• Proven ability to mentor team members and lead technical projects or initiatives.
