Job Title: Senior Maintenance Engineer
Location: Lagos
Responsibilities
The Senior Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all Corporation facilities in Lagos, including the Lagos Head Office building, Commercial Residential Apartments, and Executive Management residences, operate at optimal efficiency while upholding the highest standards of health and safety environment (HSE). Moreover, he or she will be accountable for executing any responsibilities that may be delegated to them at any moment.
Job Details / Duties
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Engineering & General Services, along with the leadership of the Director of General Services, the Senior Maintenance Engineer will perform the following functions:
Oversee Facilities Services: Direct and manage the Facilities Services team to ensure the delivery of efficient maintenance, security, and housekeeping services for the facility.
Supervise the comprehensive operations, upkeep, and administration of the Engineering/Maintenance unit.
Perform regular inspections of electrical systems, encompassing power distribution, lighting, backup generators, fire alarm systems, water treatment plants, lifts, HVAC, and any additional equipment and services to guarantee optimal functionality.
Oversee and manage building projects by aiding in the design and bidding stages, supervising the execution phase, and ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with Africa Re's standards, while adhering to the allocated budget and specified timeline.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to greatly minimize equipment failures and downtime.
Oversee and ensure timely routine and scheduled preventive maintenance of all equipment and facilities.
Collaborate with the HSE team to ensure that all facilities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards as well as providing essential training and support.
Ensure Compliance and Effectiveness: Develop and implement processes or mechanisms to ensure that Africa Re's headquarters and facilities meet Security and HSE standards while optimizing efficiency.
Make certain that maintenance agreements are properly executed and renewed at regular intervals for all equipment and machinery in the head office building and management residences.
Make certain that all service providers comply with SLAs and QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards in delivering services, equipment, and materials.
Work alongside vendors and contractors to plan repair and maintenance tasks.
Assist in budget planning and financial forecasting, making certain that Facilities Services activities are in accordance with approved budgets.
Compile reports on facility maintenance activities and deliver findings to senior management.
Conduct all associated administrative tasks, including but not limited to writing memos, preparing reports, managing payment processes, identifying quality third-party contractors, and following up on SLA drafting.
Supervise the upkeep of Executive residences, guaranteeing a dependable, secure, and high-quality living space for Executives and their families.
Coordinate, manage, and supervise maintenance initiatives, encompassing enhancements, refurbishments, and advancements to infrastructure.
Work collaboratively with external contractors and vendors on specialized projects and services, guaranteeing timely completion, budget compliance, and the highest quality standards
Collaborate with various departments to plan and implement projects that are in line with the Corporation’s strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
Applicants shall be holders of:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Building, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Relevant professional qualifications will be desirable
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience with Facilities Management or Building Maintenance will be an added advantage

Fluency in one or the two official languages of the Corporation (French or English) is an added advantage.

Competitive Basic Salary on the Corporation’s Support Staff Grade Level
Variable pay (Annual Performance Bonus)
Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the employer)
