Care Best Initiative (CBI) is a fast-growing, woman-led, and youth-driven Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2019 and presently operational in states within North-East, Nigeria. Job Title: Advocacy Consultant

Responsible for: Driving strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement for CBI’s humanitarian mission.
Purpose of Role
The Advocacy Consultant will drive strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagement to advance CBI’s mission of delivering humanitarian aid, promoting human capital development, and strengthening systems across Northeast and Northwest Nigeria.
Job Description / Principal Accountabilities
Lead the design and execution of CBI’s advocacy and communications strategy in alignment with its mission and program priorities.
Develop targeted advocacy plans across thematic areas including health, protection, nutrition, education, WASH, food security and climate resilience.
Facilitate stakeholder engagements, and roundtables at local, state, and national levels to strengthen partnerships and promote CBI’s agenda.
Represent CBI in key advocacy coalitions, technical working groups, and public forums, ensuring alignment with humanitarian and development frameworks.
Oversee the creation and dissemination of high-quality advocacy content such as policy briefs, reports, success stories, newsletters, and position papers.
Develop and manage integrated media campaigns aligned with CBI’s key focus areas, targeting both local and international audiences.
Drive CBI’s digital presence and engagement across platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X), ensuring growth and strategic visibility.
Coordinate closely with program and policy teams to ensure advocacy messaging is rooted in field evidence and responsive to community realities.
Build and strengthen partnerships with government agencies, CSOs, UN agencies, donors, and media actors to support collaborative advocacy initiatives.
Monitor media, legislative, and policy trends to guide strategic messaging and enable timely responses to emerging issues.
Support the development of community-centered campaigns, amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups and affected populations.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning by documenting lessons from advocacy efforts and integrating feedback into future strategies.
Support proposal development and donor engagement by contributing advocacy components and success stories to funding applications and reports.
Lead training and mentorship for CBI staff and partners to enhance capacity in advocacy, communication, and campaign design.
Organize press briefings, media visits, and stakeholder meetings, positioning CBI as a trusted voice on key humanitarian and development issues.
Develop talking points, briefing notes, and speeches for senior leadership and field representatives for public and high-level events.
Ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all external communication materials.
Engage with influencers, champions, and media personalities to amplify CBI’s messages and campaigns.
Ensure risk-sensitive communication, maintaining ethical standards and safeguarding principles in all public messaging.
Track and report on advocacy results and media reach, using data to adapt strategies and demonstrate impact.
Job Holder Entry Requirements
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
Education:
Bachelor's degree in international relations, Communications, Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 3–5 years of relevant work experience in advocacy, communications, or public affairs within the humanitarian or development sector.
Proven experience in designing and delivering advocacy strategies, media campaigns, and stakeholder engagement plans.
Solid experience in content development and digital media engagement across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram)
Skills (Special Training or Competence):
Strong community engagement and facilitation skill
Attention to detail, keen at following procedures and meeting deadlines
Ability to organize tasks simultaneously and prioritize work
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills working with cross cultural and multi diverse teams
Ability to build strong working relationships for partnerships

Fluency in English Language
Working knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an added advantage
