Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

• Design, develop and maintain mechanical systems that ensure functionality, efficiency and safety of buildings and structures ensuring compliance with standards and regulators.

Responsibilities

• System Design: Develop and design heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems to meet the specific needs of buildings.
• Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-efficient solutions and sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact of buildings.
• Project Management: Oversee the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that mechanical designs and installations comply with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues related to mechanical systems during the design, construction, and maintenance phases.
• Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into building designs.
• System Performance: Monitor and assess the performance of mechanical systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and reports to guide the construction and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and methods, applying innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
• Safety and Reliability: Ensure that mechanical systems are safe, reliable, and durable, minimizing the risk of failures and hazards.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable university.
• Membership of professional bodies, like COREN essential.
• Post-graduate degree(s) will be added advantage.
• Professional certification and accreditation by the Nigerian Society of Engineers is a requirement.
• Proven expertise with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience in designing, developing and maintaining mechanical systems in the building and construction industry.
• Certification in Project Management is an added advantage.
• Ability to multitask including coordinating and managing several projects, with solid project and change management skills.
• Ability to align, inspire and influence outsourced/external partners and teams for results.
• A can-do attitude, strong leadership, and organization and management skills.
• Good problem solving, innovation, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
