Job Title: Chinese Language Translator

Location: Warra, Ngaski LGA - Kebbi
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• As we expand our team and enhance cross-cultural collaboration, we are seeking a skilled Chinese Language Translator to support seamless communication between our Chinese expatriate team and local staff.
• The Chinese Language Translator will be responsible for providing accurate oral and written translation and interpretation between Mandarin Chinese and English (or Hausa, where applicable), ensuring smooth and professional communication across technical, operational, and administrative areas.
• The ideal candidate should have excellent bilingual communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to translate complex technical or business terminology within a mining or industrial context.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time oral interpretation during meetings, inspections, and training sessions between Chinese-speaking and local staff.
• Translate technical documents, work instructions, safety guidelines, emails, and memos from Chinese to English and vice versa.
• Facilitate day-to-day communication between the Chinese technical/management team and Nigerian employees.
• Assist with onboarding Chinese staff and support cross-cultural integration within the work environment.
• Ensure translation accuracy, especially for critical technical and safety-related content.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all translations and interactions.
• Collaborate with HR and other departments to support internal communication, documentation, and reporting.
• Assist in preparing bilingual materials for use in training or operational purposes.
• Provide interpretation during interview sessions between Chinese unit head and local candidates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Communication, or related fields.
• First degree in the Industrial or Engineering field, would be an additional advantage.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written) is required; proficiency in Hausa is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 - 5 years translation/interpretation experience, preferably in a technical, construction, industrial, or mining environment.
• Familiarity with mining, engineering, or operational terminology is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic documentation tools.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and discretion.
