Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and result-driven Head of Business Development to lead our expansion and growth efforts.
This is a high-impact leadership role for an experienced strategist and deal-closer who is passionate about creating value, building relationships, and leading business transformation in the health insurance space.
Role Overview
As the Head of Business Development, you will be the growth engine of our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to craft and implement winning strategies that expand our client base, deepen market penetration, and build high-value partnerships that drive revenue and sustainability.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep experience in the HMO or healthcare insurance industry and a proven track record of leading teams, closing large deals, and achieving aggressive growth targets.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion:
Design and execute strategic business development plans to achieve ambitious revenue goals.
Identify untapped markets, innovative healthcare packages, and new business lines.
Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities.
Forge and nurture strategic partnerships with hospitals, clinics, corporate clients, and other key stakeholders.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
Drive acquisition of both individual and corporate health insurance clients.
Lead high-impact pitches, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
Manage and grow key accounts, ensuring high retention and client satisfaction.
Serve as the face of the organization in strategic meetings and forums.
Product & Service Innovation:
Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and refine health plans that meet client needs.
Leverage customer feedback and market insights to enhance product offerings.
Work closely with the marketing team to craft compelling campaigns and go-to-market strategies.
Revenue & Performance Management:
Drive premium growth and ensure consistent revenue generation from existing and new accounts.
Develop pricing models, commercial proposals, and financial forecasts aligned with market realities.
Regularly report business development performance to executive leadership.
Leadership & Team Development:
Build, coach, and inspire a high-performing business development team.
Champion collaboration across departments to drive seamless execution of growth initiatives.
Establish KPIs and accountability frameworks for the team.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
Client acquisition growth and market penetration
Revenue increase from individual and corporate clients
Strategic partnerships and channel development
Client retention rate and customer satisfaction score
Execution of strategic initiatives and product launches
What We’re Looking For
Education: Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: 7–10 years of solid experience in business development, sales, or marketing—specifically within an HMO or healthcare insurance environment.
Strong understanding of the healthcare financing landscape in Nigeria, including NHIA and regulatory frameworks.
Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful commercial strategies.
High emotional intelligence, problem-solving ability, and resilience.
Salary
N800,000 per month (Net).
