The Area Support Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic vision of the Area Office.
This position is designed to lead and optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of key support functions, including Logistics, Finance, Human Resources, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Support Manager is responsible for ensuring strict adherence to the Norwegian Refugee Council's (NRC) systems and processes, thereby fostering an environment of accountability and excellence.
As an integral member of the Area Management Team, the Support Manager shares the profound responsibility of establishing and maintaining robust work systems.
Their efforts are aimed at maximizing the positive impact on the lives of individuals affected by conflict, ensuring that all support initiatives are aligned with the overarching mission of assisting displacement-affected people in Northeast Nigeria.
Through strategic oversight and collaborative leadership, the Area Support Manager is dedicated to enhancing the organization’s ability to serve communities in need effectively.
What you will do
Line management for support staff such as Finance, HR & Admin, Logistics, and ICT
Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance, handbooks, and donor/auditor requirements
Providing operational support and input to the Area Plan of Action and coordinate and align active support with programme plans at the Area level.
Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation.
Facilitating Area Support Budget, area-level budgets, including support costs.
Responsible for developing regular reports on the Area level to the Country Office and AM
Responsible for the implementation of new country-specific technical SOPs, guidelines, and tools in the Area (HR, Logistics/ICT, and Finance)
Facilitate training for programme staff on finance, logistics, and HR procedures.
Responsible for technical capacity building of support staff (HR, Logistics/ICT, and Finance).
What you will bring
Professional Competencies:
Minimum 4 years in a middle management position in a humanitarian/recovery context
Experience in a Finance or Logistics managerial position is required.
Solid knowledge of HR, finance, and logistics routines in a humanitarian context
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Experience in remote management
Knowledge of the Nigerian Emergency Response crisis is an asset
Experience in partnership management is an asset
Previous NRC experience in a similar role is an asset.
