Job Summary
The Marine Operations Officer supports the technical operations of offshore vessels by coordinating daily reporting, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, facilitating crew and supply management, and ensuring readiness for internal and external audits.
The role acts as a vital liaison between vessels, clients, and support departments to maintain operational excellence and compliance in marine logistics.
Monitor vessel fuel consumption using FUELTRAX and flag deviations.
Track client action requests and escalate unresolved issues.
Coordinate vessel requests with internal departments for timely closure.
Vessel Requisitions & Port Call Management:
Validate material/service requisitions and process through the Port Captain.
Liaise with Supply Chain for timely delivery of supplies.
Conduct monthly vessel visits and communicate management directives.
Track and ensure timely closure of port call maintenance activities.
Crew Planning & Resource:
Ensure crew compliance with MLC 2010 rest hour regulations.
Monitor and encourage completion of Crew CBT (Computer-Based Training).
Safety Planning & Monitoring
Track daily safety observations; ensure each vessel reports one UC/UA daily.
Provide technical support for onboard incident investigations.
Support Management of Change (MOC) documentation for personnel, equipment, or operational changes.
Monitor drills, meetings, and review CCTV for safety compliance.
Internal Audit Support:
Support pre-OVID, port call, and client pre-hire inspections.
External Audit Support:
Facilitate closure of OVID, VPM, walkthrough, and client inspection actions.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):
Ensure vessels receive up-to-date navigational charts, memos, and publications.
Compliance Management:
Submit monthly reports and weekly Joint Venture (JV) trackers to relevant parties.
Key Requirements
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime Operations, or a related field.
STCW/MLC compliance knowledge is required.
Familiarity with offshore support vessels (PSV, AHTS, etc.).
Experience:
3–5 years in a marine operations or technical coordination role.
Experience interfacing with crew, auditors, and client representatives.
Working knowledge of FUELTRAX or similar fuel monitoring systems.
Technical & Functional Skills:
Strong understanding of offshore operations, compliance (OVID, MLC, ISM), and safety protocols.
Competency in reporting tools, Excel, and ERP systems.
Ability to interpret vessel logs, requisitions, and safety reports.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
