Established in 2003, Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the comprehensive prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable and under privileged populations. We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions.
Malaria Consortium in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) is planning to implement a campaign to distribute insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in Ondo State in August 2025. Malaria Consortium will also implement a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) research in relation to the campaign. Both the campaign and the M&E research are funded by Open Philanthropy based on GiveWell’s recommendation. The project will gather comprehensive data to assess the outcomes of the campaign in terms of ITN coverage, use rates and net durability, as well as to monitor relevant epidemiological indicator such as impact on malaria incidence rates reported from a sample of health facilities across the state.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Team Leader
Location: Ondo
Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this terms of reference (TOR) is to engage research personnel that will carry out a baseline household survey before the campaign, an immediate survey after the net distribution, and a post-campaign evaluation survey across Ondo State.
Scope
The survey will be used to gather baseline and post-campaign data on coverage, ITN ownership and use rates and associated factors, physical conditions of the ITNs, malaria prevention in pregnancy, treatment seeking behaviour, and other relevant variables, and also validates the net campaign data during the immediate household survey by visiting households that were given nets.
Methods
During each of the three surveys, a sample of 832 households will be selected in 52 wards across the state. The 52 wards will be selected based on population proportional to size (PPS) sampling strategy. Each team will cover a ward per day.
The survey includes household enumeration to sample randomly households in each ward (cluster), and administering interviews involving household heads (and in the case of baseline and post-campaign surveys, also women 15–49 years old), using mobile devices with the SurveyCTO software.

Ensures that the data is collected accurately and uploaded according to the relevant SOPs or guidelines.
Ensures accurate review, validation and submission of electronic data.
Supports team members to charge mobile phones using a power bank (each team leader will keep a power bank, which should be kept charged daily and as necessary).
Collects mobile devices from data collectors at the end of each day for charging and safe keeping.
Writes a short report on the team’s achievements, encountered challenges and recommendations.
Deliverables:
Complete data from 832 households in 52 wards collected and uploaded.
Process reports submitted by each team leader and coordinator.
