Sahei Gender Development Initiative, was formally known and called Sanitation and hygiene education initiative (SGDI). The organization is a Nigerian non-governmental and not-for-profit making organization incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in November 2014. It is an organization that facilitates, advocates, and raises awareness for access to improved services among vulnerable individuals. The organization focuses in the areas of WASH, Protection/GBV, Empowerment/livelihood, Waste Management, Health/Nutrition, Climate Change and Peace Building. The organization has experienced staff that are equipped with knowledge, skills to response when the need arises. The organizations staff can work all over the liberated LGAs of Borno State.
The organization was established to promote well-being of individuals and alleviate the suffering of conflict affected people and the vulnerable groups of people in Northeastern Nigeria. In pursuit of its mission, the Organization works with partners to execute programs aimed at improving the livelihood and living standards of vulnerable children, women and girls, men, widows, internally displaced persons, and persons living with disabilities.

Job Title: Security Guard
Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Description
This position is located in the SGDI Security Unit under the overall supervision of the Security Manager and under the direct supervision of the Security Officer
Security Guard duties are performed in eight (8) or twelve (12) hour rotating shifts which are covering posts on 24/7 basis. The incumbent will be dressed in prescribed uniform and carry approved “Use of Force” equipment.
Security Guard will be performing variety of tasks while ensuring Safe and Secure environment for SGDI personnel and assets.
Under the overall guidance of the HR/Admin Manager and the direct supervision of the Security Officer, the Security Guard is expected to:
Patrol and maintain security of the office premises and grounds during the assigned shift and report any irregularities.
Respond to emergencies effecting the safety of the premises and notify the immediate supervisor or other designated staff members.
Control the admission and movement of authorized personnel, suppliers, commercial trucks to SGDI grounds and premises.
Ensure that routine patrols are conducted within the grounds and ensure that security guards/watchmen keep an up-to-date record of their patrol duties.
Patrol assigned areas, maintain continual surveillance against fire, water leakage and any other action which could damage premises or injure personnel.
Investigate and report all incidents on shared grounds that involve a breach of security procedures, injuries and/or theft and report back to supervisor.
In case of incident/emergency instruct SGDI staff members and visitors of performance of security services, including fire control and physical security for the premises, first aid procedures, use of equipment and operation of the automated alarm and video surveillance systems, if installed.
Maintain updated directives and security personnel lists.
Respond to enquiries and provide appropriate information or suggest alternative sources of information.
Issue building passes when appropriate.
Liaise as necessary with the local administration, police authorities, fire services and other emergency services.
Report for duty as and when necessary (on call).
Duties to be performed on a 24/7 basis as scheduled in the Security Guard Duty Roster not to exceed 40 hours per week.
Perform other duties as requested.
Other Duties:
Maintain peace and order within SGDI premises.
Maintain all logbooks in respect to established routine.
Provide verbal and written reports.
Provide security support for organized events as requested by Head of Security.
Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Security, Team Leader and SGDI Department of Safety and Security (if needed).
Requirements
Security officer training/certification is a requirement. UN security officer training/certification is an asset.
Fire Safety, First Aid Training obtained.
Three to five years of experience in security field with international organizations.
Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications;
Previous experience with: Technical protection equipment, Radio and other Telecommunication Equipment.
Fluent in local languages; good knowledge of English language.
Desirable Skills/Quality:
Be on time for your shift.
No sleeping on duty.
Always remain vigilant and ready to react..
No personal visitors while you are working on shift.
All visitors to be respected and treated fairly.
Be clean and presentable for your duties.
No guard is allowed to use abusive language.
Do not leave your post without permission, even if the next shift has not arrived.
