Job Title: Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) - Riserless Well Intervention Project 

Location: Nigeria, Offshore (Dynamically Positioned Vessel)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Onshore Project Manager / Operations Manager
Rotation: Typically, 28 days on/28 days off (subject to project requirements)

Role Summary

• The Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) is the senior offshore authority responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant execution of riserless well intervention operations using ROVs and a Well Control Package.
• The OIM will lead all offshore personnel, manage vessel operations, and ensure seamless integration of ROV, subsea, and well intervention activities while maintaining the vessel’s DP integrity and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance Leadership:
  • Act as the ultimate safety authority offshore, enforcing HSE policies, risk assessments (e.g., JSA, HAZID), and regulatory compliance (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL).
  • Lead emergency response as Incident Commander during drills or actual incidents (DP failures, well control events, ROV emergencies).
  • Ensure adherence to SHELL-specific safety standards and environmental permits.
• Operational Management:
  • Oversee riserless well intervention operations (pumping & all subsea tool deployments)
  • Manage the survery team ensuring DP vessel positioning in coordination with the Vessel Master, ensuring station-keeping within operational limits during critical operations.
  • Supervise ROV operations (inspection, intervention, tool handling) and ensure alignment with well intervention schedules.
• Team & Resource Coordination:
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams (Bridge Supervisor’s, Well Intervention Supervisors, ROV Supervisors, DP Operators, Subsea Engineers, and vessel crew).
  • Approve work permits, shift plans, and manpower allocation.
  • Facilitate daily operational briefings with client representatives and contractors.
• Technical Oversight:
  • Verify the integrity of subsea equipment (ROV tooling, Well Control Package, Nitrogen Tanks & Pumps) and approve operational procedures.
  • Monitor DP system performance, weather conditions, and vessel stability to mitigate downtime risks.
  • Ensure real-time data logging for operations, incidents, and equipment performance.
• Client & Stakeholder Interface:
  • Serve as the primary client contact offshore, providing operational updates and addressing non-conformities.
  • Coordinate with onshore support teams for logistics, technical troubleshooting, and change management.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive operational efficiency through lessons-learned reviews and process optimization.
  • Ensure all activities comply with IMS (Integrated Management System) requirements.

Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory:

• Certifications:
  • Valid OIM Certification (OPITO, STCW Reg A-II/2, or equivalent).
  • DP Experience (DP Advanced certificate preferred).
  • Survival Certificates (BOSIET, HUET).
  • IWCF/IADC Well Control (Level 4).
• Experience:
  • 10+ years in offshore operations, with 5+ years as OIM on DP vessels.
  • Proven track record in riserless well intervention (e.g., light subsea interventions, wireline, coiled tubing).
  • Hands-on expertise managing ROV operations for subsea well access, tool deployment, and BOP/XT interfacing.
  • Familiarity with subsea control systems, intervention tooling, and barrier standards.

Preferred:

• Experience with vessel mobilization/demobilization for well intervention campaigns.
• Knowledge of subsea tree systems (conventional or horizontal).
• Experience in ROV team Supervision or ROV Supervisor background.

Skills & Competencies

• Leadership: Decisive crisis management, team motivation, and conflict resolution.
• Technical Proficiency: DP operations, ROV/intervention engineering, subsea hydraulics.
• Communication: Clear, concise reporting (daily logs, incident reports) to onshore/clients.
• Problem-Solving: Quick response to operational anomalies (e.g., DP drift, ROV failures).
• Software: DP control systems, MS Office, maintenance tracking tools (CMMS)

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Harsh offshore setting; 12-hour shifts; exposure to hydrocarbons, noise, and heavy machinery.
• Mobility: Global assignments; travel to/from vessel via helicopter/supply boat.
• Compliance: Must pass pre-employment medical/drug screening and safety training.
