Job Summary
UNICEF Nigeria Health Section is supporting the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) in its efforts to bolster local production of health commodities in Nigeria.
The Health Consultant is crucial for supporting the Talent, R&D, and Business Operations Lead within the Healthcare Partnership and Ecosystem Enablement team.
This role is essential for developing and implementing initiatives that strengthen
human capital, research capabilities, and operational efficiency within the Nigerian healthcare sector. The position will enhance the overall effectiveness of the healthcare workforce and promote innovation, thereby supporting PVAC's
goals of improving local healthcare capabilities, fostering R&D, and ensuring efficient healthcare delivery.
Additionally, this role will contribute to the overall activities of PVAC by driving strategic initiatives that align with national health security and economic development objectives, fostering a robust and self-sufficient healthcare ecosystem.
Job Details
Main Responsibilities & Tasks:
Develop and implement programs to support healthcare workforce development in Nigeria, addressing identified skill gaps and training needs across various healthcare professions.
Facilitate collaboration between academia, healthcare providers, and the private sector to enhance skills development and knowledge transfer within
the healthcare workforce.
•Identify opportunities to support and promote R&D activities in Nigeria, fostering innovation in areas relevant to the country's healthcare needs.
Develop and manage programs to improve business operations and efficiency within the Nigerian healthcare sector, focusing on areas like quality management, cost-effectiveness, and data utilization.
Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends and best practices in healthcare workforce development, R&D, and business operations.
Collaborate with other teams within the secretariat (e.g., Opportunity Origination & Management) to ensure alignment between talent development,
R&D initiatives, and investment opportunities.
Deliverables
Monthly progress reports on the implementation and impact of talent development, R&D, and business operations programs.
Successfully developed and managed programs aimed at improving business operations and efficiency within the healthcare sector.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
Language:
English
Work experience:
0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, engineering, finance, medical device industry, with a focus on business development, investment, or product management.
Good understanding of the Nigerian healthcare system, particularly the regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals and medical consumables.
Excellent analytical, research, and presentation skills.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders.
