Job Summary
UNICEF Nigeria Health Section is supporting the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) in its efforts to bolster local production of health commodities in Nigeria.
The Health Consultant is crucial for supporting the Therapeutic & Consumable work stream within the Opportunity Origination and Management team.
This role is essential for identifying, developing, and managing healthcare sector transactions related to therapeutics and medical consumables.
The position will enhance access to essential medicines, medical devices, and other consumables in Nigeria, thereby supporting PVAC's goals of improving local healthcare manufacturing, reducing medical tourism, and creating quality jobs.
Job Details
Main Responsibilities & Tasks:
Proactively identify and source potential investment and technology transfer opportunities in the therapeutics and consumable sub-sector of the Nigerian healthcare industry.
Conduct market research and analysis to assess the demand for specific therapeutics and consumables in Nigeria.
Develop and present compelling investment theses to potential investors, highlighting the commercial viability and social impact of proposed
transactions.
Lead deal origination efforts for projects related to local manufacturing, distribution, and access to essential medicines and medical consumables.
Manage the due diligence process for therapeutics and consumable transactions, ensuring alignment with the secretariat's objectives and risk
mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with the Healthcare Enabling Team to address regulatory challenges specific to therapeutics and consumables
Foster relationships with pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and other relevant stakeholders in the therapeutics and
consumable space.
Monitor the progress of existing therapeutics and consumable transactions within the team's portfolio.
Track industry trends and identify emerging technologies and business models impacting the therapeutics and consumable landscape in Nigeria.
Deliverables
Comprehensive market research reports and analysis on the demand for therapeutics and consumables in Nigeria.
Monthly progress reports on the status of due diligence processes and ongoing transactions within the therapeutics and consumables portfolio.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
Language:
English
Work experience:
0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical, engineering, finance, medical device industry, with a focus on business development, investment, or product management.
Good understanding of the Nigerian healthcare system, particularly the regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals and medical consumables.
Excellent analytical, research, and presentation skills.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively within a external stakeholders.
