Job Title: Director General
Location: Nigeria
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and highly experienced professional to lead our organization as the Director General.
This is a critical leadership role that requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in advocacy, stakeholder management, and organizational development within the maritime, logistics, or trade sectors.
Key Responsibilities
The Director General will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Providing strategic leadership and direction for the Association, ensuring its objectives align with national and international trade policies.
Serving as the chief advocate for Nigerian shippers, engaging with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and international organizations on critical industry issues.
Overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration of the Association, ensuring efficiency and effective resource utilization.
Driving membership growth and engagement, fostering strong relationships with members and stakeholders.
Developing and implementing programs and initiatives that support the interests of shippers, including capacity building, research, and information dissemination.
Managing the Association’s financial health and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Representing the Association at various national and international forums.
Minimum Qualifications
Prospective candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
A Graduate degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Transport Management, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a related field from a recognized university.
A Master's will be an added advantage.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in a senior management or leadership role within the maritime, shipping, logistics, trade, or a closely related sector.
Demonstrable experience in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and government relations.
Proven track record of managing complex organizations and delivering strategic objectives.
Skills & Competencies:
Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development skills.
Strong understanding of national and international shipping regulations, trade policies, and logistics operations.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, and international partners.
Proficiency in relevant computer applications and data analysis.
Professional Affiliation: Membership in relevant professional bodies within the maritime, logistics, or trade sectors is highly desirable.
