Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Intern
The Intern shall be based at SI field Office in Ngala, Monguno or RRM unit in Mainduguri and Gusau and shall learn on the job by performing duties comprising water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion and at the level of Watsan and Hygiene Officer.
The Team Leader shall deploy and shuffle the interns under their charge to be able to cover 40% of their time on water supply, 30-35% sanitation, 20% on Hygiene Promotion and 5-8% on induction, assessments, and reporting. All subsectors shall entail engagement with WASH Management Committees (WMC)
He/she will comply with the core humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, humanity and independence as well as with the principles and mandate of Solidarités International at all times.
Main Tasks
Implementation of Water and Sanitation Activities:
Conduct technical field assessments of water supply and sanitation facilities -new/existing.
Prepare water supply and sanitation design packages (Computation, Drawings, BOQ, Narrative)
Supervision of water supply and sanitation construction works-daily workers and contractors
Training Daily workers
Water Quality treatment and monitoring
Operation and Maintenance follow-up of water supply and sanitation facilities
Coordination with WASH Management Committees
Implementation of Hygiene Promotion Activities:
Hygiene Promotion assessment ; KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, Practice) survey
Training Community Hygiene Promoters
Preparation of Information Education, Communication (IEC) materials.
On job learning on supevision and training of Community Hygiene Promoters (CHP).
Oversee Non- Food Items (NFI) distribution.
Cholera prevention and response activities- real or simulation - CATI Technique.
Administrative activities:
Raise material requisition to the Team leader
Prepare weekly sitrep to Team Leader.
Archiving Means of Verification (MoV) documentation
Other relevant duties assigned by WASH Team leader
The intern shall work within SI HR Terms and Conditions and communicate and coordinate well with others, displaying a high level of Teamwork.
Profile Forsaken
Studies: A recent graduate who has completed at least a 4-year course in Engineering, arts, social sciences, or related field from a reputable university.
Completion of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme no more than 1yearbefore date of application.
Professional experience: None
Languages: fluent in Spoken English and Local Languages.
Computer skills: Office software, internet and email.
Personal Qualities: reliable, honest, very good organization, resistance to stress. Demonstrate a keen aptitude and appetite for learning and personal development. Good interpersonal skills (communication) and team player.
