Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer - Production Chemicals
Location: Lagos
Reports to: Product Line Country Manager
Primary Purpose of Position
To grow the Nigeria business through winning key projects and the development of new and existing client relationships in for our Oilfield Production Chemicals business.
We are looking for a results-driven and innovative Technical Sales Engineer to manage and grow our Oilfield Production Chemicals business in Nigeria.
Based in Lagos, this role will be instrumental in managing our existing business, while aggressively pursuing new opportunities and expanding our market presence across the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
The ideal candidate will combine a strong technical foundation with exceptional sales capabilities, acting as a crucial link between our innovative solutions and client needs.
Key Responsibilities / Activities (list is not exhaustive)
Identify, prospect and secure new clients and business opportunities for oilfield production chemicals across all segments of the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
Develop and implement business development strategies and plans to capitalize on new opportunities and drive revenue growth.
Serve as the primary technical and commercial point of contact for the Oilfield Production Chemicals business.
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive account management, technical support, and problem-solving.
Provide expert technical support and solutions to clients regarding the application, performance, and optimization of company's production chemicals.
Prepare and deliver compelling technical and commercial presentations, proposals, and bids to prospective clients.
Provide regular, accurate reports on sales activities, market trends, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence.
Contribute to the development of strategic plans for market penetration and growth in Nigeria.
Demonstrate a strong willingness and aptitude for continuous learning on the job, adapting to new technologies, products, and market demands.
Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure new business.
Strictly adhere to FACTS’s Standard of Performance (SOP), quality standards and HSE procedures.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university/college
Minimum of 3 years experience with specialty chemicals preferably in the oil and gas industry
Previous experience with leading oilfield service companies (e.g., Nalco, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, Halliburton) in a technical or sales role is highly desirable.
Established client networks with proven ability to market and develop new and existing relationships.
Sound knowledge of business systems.
Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary input into opportunities (EOI, RFT’s) and projects.
Knowledge of industry bodies, publications, trends etc.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Must be a confident and articulate speaker capable of engaging with diverse audiences.
A solid understanding of chemical principles, oilfield production processes, and the application of specialty chemicals.
Professional delivery and presentation to ensure FACTS image is maintained.
Courteous and business orientated manner when communicating with stakeholders to foster and promote good working relations.
Co-operative and flexible work style to work in a team environment.
Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently with guidance.
Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.
Ability to apply new knowledge; and able to work under pressure.
Willingness to travel within Nigeria.
