The Providence Hotel is situated on this very street within the Government Reserved Area, Ikeja, Lagos which is the capital of Lagos State in the western part of the city and is famous with many attractions for the guest to enjoy, both business and leisure travellers. A high-security presence ensures a peaceful atmosphere, with the Ikeja Golf Club, restaurants, cafes, clubs, lounges and bars in close vicinity. The computer village – the largest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessories market in Africa is located a few minutes away.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Food and Beverage Supervisor
Location: GRA Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Duties / Tasks
Provides high quality service and product to room service guests while adhering to cost constraints by managing the department in accordance with the Hotel policies and procedures
Ensures that guest orders are filled promptly by scheduling and supervising employees
Adheres to the Hotel standards regarding billing
Maintains clean and orderly work area in accordance with the Hotel sanitary standards
Monitors cleanliness of hallways; ensures that servers return dirty dishes to Dishwashing area promptly
Approves requisitions for required supplies
Handles guest complaints tactfully
Performs "spot checks" on preparation, garnishments, seasonings, portion size food quality, etc.
Establishes, implements and maintains room service operating procedures
Assures completion of necessary control reports
Assists in establishing menus; co-ordinates service for special functions
Develops and sells special promotions as required or requested
Meets and exceeds guest expectations by ensuring that the room service department provides service and teamwork
Conducts training on a regular basis
Provides staff with the skills training to provide value added service to Guests
Utilizes one-on-one training skills
Monitors service and teamwork on a regular basis and counsels’ employees
Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction of direct reports
Selects orients and trains qualified employees
Conducts effective employee meetings and counselling sessions
Determines, communicates and monitors achievement of standards of Performance on a timely basis
Employs discipline as required
Assists in the preparation of the Annual Budget
Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
Maintains a log book.
Other Duties/ Tasks:
To ensure that all employees report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
To assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development.
To demonstrate pride in the workplace and personal appearance at all times when representing the hotel thus identifying a high level of commitment.
To display a pleasant manner and positive attitude at all times and to promote a good company image to guests and colleagues.
To promote efficiency, confidence, courtesy and an extremely high standard of social skills.
To ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the Hotel Employee Rules and Regulations.
To ensure that all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
To undertake duties of the Duty Manager as dictated by Hotel’s Duty Managers Roster.
To adhere to Company and Hotel rules and regulations at all times.
Ensure that incidents/ accidents are reported without any delays
Ensure that QHSE – FSMS related training programs are executed
identify training requirements of employees and coordinate with concerned trainers (internal) to execute training
Ensure that QHSE – FSMS related records are maintained and updated participates in incident investigation process
Plans and coordinate with OH&S officers to conduct mock drills with respect to Occupational health & safety
Understands the requirements of basic food hygiene and personal hygiene shall maintain the work areas neat and tidy
Participate in trainings related to Food Hygiene & HACCP
If responsible complete various checklists/ records associated with work.
Occasional Duties/ Tasks:
To report any equipment failures/problems to the Maintenance Department
To pass any maintenance requests to the Maintenance Department
To participate in any Training/ Developments schemes as recommended by senior management
To assist the Duty Manager in any task outlined/ detailed by him/her
To comply with any reasonable request made by management to the best of your ability.
Requirements
S.S.C.E. or MBA or BA in Hospitality Management or equivalent
Several years’ experience in overall operation
Fluent in English, multilingual ability preferred.
Computer knowledge: MS Office applications, Time-Keeping Software, MICROS and other software required.
Personal appearance:
The uniform should be worn with pride and dignity.
The uniform must be kept clean, tidy and well maintained.
Any careless use, wilfully or negligently, will be the sole responsibility of the employee, which will have to cover all expenses related to the repair/ replacement or additional cleaning outside the regular one.
The personal appearance according to the Hotel standard must be adhered to at all times.
