The Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, is one of the Universities established by the Federal Government in 2011 to enhance access to tertiary education in Nigeria. The rationale for establishing the Federal University Oye-Ekiti includes, among others, responsive approach to global academic expectations and excellence, access to quality education and inculcate a culture of lifelong learning in students.
The University runs two campuses with the main campus at Oye-Ekiti and the second campus at Ikole-Ekiti. The University has Fifteen (15) Faculties; the Faculties of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Computing, Education, Law, Management Sciences, Pharmacy, Communication and Media Studies, Social Sciences and Science are located at the Oye-Ekiti campus; while the Faculties of Agriculture, Computer and Information Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Design and Management and Multidisciplinary Studies are situated at the Ikole-Ekiti campus. The University also runs a Postgraduate School. The students’ population of the University is currently at 59,159.

The Position
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive, Chief Accounting and Academic Head of the University, ex-officio member of the Governing Council, Chairman of Senate and Chairman of Congregation.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Exponent of all the educational missions of the University and his/her office serves as the nerve center of all activities including protocol, external relations and the coordination of various internal organs of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor exercises general superintendence over the University and regulates the admission of students, subject to the guidelines and procedures approved by the University Senate and other relevant statutory agencies.
The Vice-Chancellor sees to the day-to-day administration and ensures that the provisions of the Laws, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University are observed.
The Vice-Chancellor shall:
At all times advise the Governing Council on any matter affecting the finance, and the administration of the University
Be responsible to the Governing Council in maintaining peace, order and efficient management of the affairs and ensuring the enforcement of the Laws, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University
Be responsible to the Governing Council for discipline in the University.
Requirements
The Candidate for this post must be a distinguished scholar with outstanding academic and administrative records and proven manager of human, financial and material resources. Interested Candidates must therefore, meet and provide verifiable evidence of the following underlisted qualities and qualifications:
Possess a Doctorate Degree from a recognised University, except for Professors of Medicine
Be a University teacher of the rank of Professor, attained for at least ten (10) years in a highly regarded and reputable institution, as at the time of feito uapplying for the position
Be a person of high academic standing and reputation in his or her respective discipline and conversant with the developmental academic and other complex managerial challenges of a fast-growing University
Possess a proven and demonstrable ability to attract international research and Development grants
Possess clear vision for further growth and advancement of the University and realisation of its vision, mission and strategic goals
Must be morally sound and of unimpeachable probity and integrity
Must be mentally and physically fit in state of good health
Should not be more than sixty-five (65) years old as at the date of possible assumption of office in February, 2026.
Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Position
The successful applicant shall hold the position for a single term of five (5) years on such conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the position of the University Librarian in all Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria/Governing Council of the University.
