Job Title: Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Job Purpose
The ESHS Manager will ensure sound environmental and social performance, uphold good employment practices, ensure respectful and rights-based security practices, and promote harmony with communities in the immediate vicinity of the Plant.
Job responsibilities
Site and Document Access:
Facilitate and coordinate lender and lender advisers visit to Plant, Site and facilities including, access to, take copies and make extracts from environmental, health and safety records.
EHS Monitoring:
The following tasks should be undertaken rigorously, the list is not exhaustive:
Ensure O & M and its Subcontractors working on the Plant adhere to applicable E & S Laws, the ESAP, the ESIA, the ESMP, and the IFC Performance Standards.
Ensure timely renewal of permits and requirements met (e.g., NESREA, Edo State Fire Safety, ground rent).
Daily visual inspection of Site, Plant, PRMS and associatedfacilities.
Identify any safety issues or environmental violations
Air emission levels for NOx, SO2 & CO2 (Annual stack emission testing).
Drains and internal roads – Weekly inspection for dirt and mudbuild-up.
Oil Systems - Monthly check (Lube oil, hydraulic oil and lifting oil) for spills, trips and falls.
Provide Oversight of Social Monitoring:
Ensure that grievance mechanism internal and external is well functioning so to avoid any community protests. Monthly check for numbers, types and duration/resolutiontime
Procurement & supply chain management – Monthly check for community participation.
Community engagement, health and safety awareness programme, and other initiatives – Monthly checks.
Community investment projects and initiatives – Monthly check of O & M activities as well asPTC.
Litigation, claims, disputes or actions threatened or filed against the Plant – Monthlychecks. d. Managing Environmental and Social Impact for Plant expansion projects.
Oversight on project ESIA process and timeline. • Implementation of ESMP and development of procedures.
ESG Performance Monitoring:
Track and report on the following key performance indicators:
Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR)
Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
Community grievance cases and resolution times
Compliance with environmental permit conditions
Audit scores of O&M contractors and subcontractors
Gender and local hiring ratios
Security incident reports and follow-up actions
Implementation progress of ESMP, CSR initiatives, and RAP commitments
Education and Experience Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Environmental, Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering or similar background.
10 years of work experience as a health and safety professional
3 - 5 years working experience in a power generation company, oil and gas sector or any FMCG Industries.
3 years’ experience (or academic equivalent) in social performance, stakeholder engagement, conflict and grievance management.
Knowledge of international good practice in E & Smatters.
Knowledge of Nigerian E & S Laws regulations.
