Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited [NESCO (Nigeria) Limited] is incorporated under the Companies act of the Laws of Nigeria. Its core business is to generate, distribute, supply and retail electric power in Plateau State and adjacent States.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Application Development & Support Officer
Location: Plateau
Purpose of the Job
Responsible for creating, developing, and managing software applications to enhance and support the operations of NESCO.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Application Development & Support Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
Design, test, and implement software applications aligned with business requirements
Partner with stakeholders to identify and analyze user needs for new features or application improvements
Develop clean, efficient, and scalable code
Prepare and update technical documentation for all developed applications
Deliver technical support for current applications, promptly addressing user concerns
Diagnose and resolve application-related issues to reduce downtime and operational disruptions
Track and enhance application performance through optimization measures
Safeguard application data by maintaining its security and integrity
Collaborate with IT team members to ensure application development aligns with organizational objectives.
Integrate applications seamlessly with existing systems and technology infrastructure
Execute regular updates, patches, and upgrades to keep applications secure and fully functional
Conduct thorough testing of system changes and enhancements to verify compatibility and reliability
Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Lead, IT
Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time by Lead, IT.
Qualifications
First Degree (B.Sc) or H.N.D + PGD and Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
2-4 years of experience in application development and support roles.
Attributes and Competencies:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or PHP
Knowledge of web development frameworks and tools (e.g., Angular, React, or ASP.NET)
Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
Understanding of IT systems and architectures used in power generation and distribution
Experience with application monitoring and debugging tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
