Bursar at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan

Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, previously known as First Technical University, was established in 2012 by the Oyo State Government as Nigeria's premier Technical University with focus on entrepreneurial practices, innovation and sustainability. It commenced operation in 2017 and strives to bridge the skill gap between the competencies of University Graduates and Industry requirements by producing graduates that are market-ready by constantly aligning its curriculum to the realities of the world of work. It has continued to blaze the trail as the first Technical University in Nigeria by setting a precedent for functionfal university education in the region.

The University offers a range of academic programmes, including Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering Food Science and Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, Surveying and Geoinformatics, among others housed within three (3) major faculties: Natural and Applied Science: Engineering and Technology: Environmental Science and Management. Notably, the University is among the first of its kind to be accredited for Forensic Science, aside from the Nigeria Police Academy.

In accordance with the provisions in Section 7(2) and 12(1) of the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan Law, 2024 as well as Article 5 of the First schedule of the Law, the Council of the University invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the vacant position below:

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

The Position

• By virtue of the University Law and other statutes, the Bursar is a Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University in accordance with Section 7(2) of the Law as well as Section 7 of the First Schedule.

Requirements

• Applicants must possess a good Degree in Accountancy or any other related discipline plus any of the following recognised professional qualifications; ICAN/ANAN/ACA/ACCA/ACMA & CPA.
• The applicant must have acquired a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate post qualification experience and must have served at a senior management level.
• Applicants must have occupied the position of a Deputy Bursar or equivalent positions preferably in a University or Similar Institution and should not be older than 60 years as at the possible date of resumption of duty.
• The candidate must have clean and impeccable records of service and demonstrate evidence of high level of professional competence as well as sound knowledge of relevant accounting software applications.
• The candidate must possess high degree of accountability, transparency.
• Integrity and probity. Applicants should be computer literate and be conversant with the application of ICT-based accounting packages.

Conditions of Service

• The successful applicant shall hold the position for a single term of five (5) years on such conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
• The remuneration and other conditions of service detters applicable to the position of the University Bursar in the Nigerian University system and as may be determined from time to time by the Governing Council of the University.
