Librarian at Abiola Ajimobi Techinical University, Ibadan

Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, previously known as First Technical University, was established in 2012 by the Oyo State Government as Nigeria's premier Technical University with focus on entrepreneurial practices, innovation and sustainability. It commenced operation in 2017 and strives to bridge the skill gap between between the competencies of University Graduates and and Industry requirements that are graduates tha by producing gra market-ready. The University strives to constantly align its curriculum to the realities of the world of work. It has continued to blaze the trail as the first Technical University in Nigeria by setting a precedent for functional university education in the region.

In accordance with the provisions in Section 7(2) and 12(1) of the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan Law, 2024 as well as Article 5 of the First schedule of the Law, the Council of the University invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the vacant position below:

Job Title: Librarian

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

The Position

• The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University who shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library, and the co-ordination of the library services in the University.
• Being an academic staff position, the University Librarian shall be required to provide both academic and administrative leadership to members of staff in the University Library.

Qualifications

• Applicant must possess a good Honours degree (at least Second Class Lower), Master's degree and PhD in Library Science or its equivalent with at least fifteen (15) years relevant post-qualification experience in an and a current registration with the Librarians' Institution of higher leaming and Registration Council of Nigeria.
• The Candidate should not be below the rank of Reader Librarian/Deputy University Librarian with vast experience in Library activities in a reputable University.
• A suitable applicant must show evidence of substantial scholarly publications related to Library/Information Science in reputable journals and books, ICT compliant and should not be older than 65 years as at the possible date of assumption.

The Candidate:

• The candidate shall be a person of rounded character and personality with excellent interpersonal relations.
• Such a person must be able to instill confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people.
• Candidates must enjoy good physical and mental health and must have high integrity so as to inspire and maintain discipline among staff and students.

Conditions of Service

• The successful applicant shall hold the position for a single term of five (5) years on such conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
• The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the position of the University Librarian in the Nigerian University system and as may be determined from time to time by the Governing Council of the University.
