Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests, analyses, and quality control procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
The role involves adherence to ISO 15189:2022 standards, strict quality assurance protocols, and ethical professional practice.
Responsibilities
Technical Duties:
Receive, process, and analyze patient specimens in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and other relevant sections.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including hematology analyzers, chemistry analyzers, ISE machines, and microscopes.
Perform internal quality control (IQC) and participate in external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
Interpret and validate results before release.
Maintain accurate records of all analyses and results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Quality & Compliance:
Adhere strictly to ISO 15189:2022 quality management system requirements.
Document and report any non-conformities, incidents, or deviations.
Participate in audits, performance verification, and equipment validation.
Follow safety protocols, including biosafety, chemical safety, and waste management.
Customer Service:
Provide courteous and professional service to patients and clinicians.
Assist in explaining test results when appropriate and within professional scope.
Administrative & Training:
Assist in stock management, including reagent and consumable inventory control.
Train and mentor laboratory interns and new staff.
Participate in continuous professional development activities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (BMLS) in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution.
Current practicing license with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Evidence of up-to-date continuing professional development (CPD).
Minimum of 1– 5 years post-NYSC laboratory work experience (fresh graduates with exceptional skills may be considered).
Experience working in an ISO 15189:2022 accredited laboratory is an advantage.
Previous exposure to hematology, chemistry, and microbiology bench work is desirable.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using LIMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards.
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when necessary.

Remuneration
Salary: N160,000 - N200,000 Monthly (Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.)
