Job Description
As a Cinematographer/Video Editor, you will be responsible for both capturing beautiful, cinematic footage and editing it into polished, professional video content.
This dual role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, creative vision, and storytelling ability. You will work on a variety of projects, from corporate videos and commercials to documentaries and short films.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute video shoots, including selecting appropriate camera equipment, lighting, and audio gear.
Operate professional-grade cameras and related equipment to capture high-quality footage.
Set up and adjust lighting to create the desired mood and atmosphere for each shot.
Collaborate with directors, producers, and clients to understand and achieve the desired visual style.
Ensure proper composition, framing, and camera movement to enhance storytelling.
Manage and direct camera crews on larger productions when necessary.
Import, organize, and review raw footage.
Edit video footage using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
Create rough cuts and refine them into final edits based on project requirements and feedback.
Apply color correction and color grading to enhance the visual appeal of the footage.
Add visual effects, motion graphics, and text overlays as needed.
Mix and edit audio, including dialogue, music, and sound effects.
Ensure smooth transitions and pacing to maintain viewer engagement.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders throughout the production process.
Troubleshoot technical issues and propose creative solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in cinematography and video editing.
Contribute ideas for shot composition, lighting setups, and editing techniques to enhance storytelling.
Collaborate with the creative team to develop storyboards and shot lists.
Provide suggestions for improving the overall quality and impact of video projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Film, Video Production, or a related field (Optional).
3 - 5 years of experience in both cinematography and video editing.
Proficiency in operating professional video cameras (e.g., RED, ARRI, Sony)
Expert knowledge of video editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
Strong understanding of lighting techniques, composition, and color theory
Excellent eye for detail and ability to maintain consistency across projects
Proficiency in color grading and audio mixing
Strong storytelling skills and ability to create engaging narratives through visuals
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
Experience with 4K, 6k and HDR workflows.
Knowledge of 3D animation and motion graphics.
Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve for advanced color grading.
Experience with drone cinematography (FAA certification a plus).
Understanding of various video codecs and delivery formats for different platforms.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet project deadlines.
Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to travel for on-location shoots (local and potentially out-of-state).
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 Monthly.
