We are seeking a young Chartered Accountant with appreciable experience in Account Payable, Finance Analytics and Data Analytics, to work with our team.
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of our organization.
You will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with other departments to support the overall financial operations and providing strategic financial insights.
Job Summary
Financial analysis, preparing financial statements, Budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, Regulatory compliance, conducting internal audits, Audit support, managing balance sheets and profit/loss statements, liaising with external auditors, preparing accounts and tax returns, assessing risks and maintaining internal controls, Cash flow monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization.
Record daily financial transactions, including expenses, revenue, and bank deposits.
Preparation and management of budgets to ensure efficient financial planning and control.
Preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g. Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Profit or Loss and Other Comprehensive Income, Statement of Cash Flows).
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue generation.
Ensure strict adherence to local accounting standards company policies, and relevant Nigerian regulatory requirements (e.g., FIRS, LIRS, CAC, NSITF, PENCOM).
Prepare and submit accurate tax computations (e.g., Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, Pay As You Earn) and ensure timely remittance to relevant authorities
Assist in financial audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations to auditors.
Prepare regular financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for management and stakeholders.
Investigate and explain discrepancies between budgeted and actual financial performance.
Handle payroll activities, including calculating salaries, deductions, and tax withholdings.
Monitor and control expenses to ensure they align with the budget and company policies.
Use historical data and financial trends to forecast future financial performance.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws, and regulations in financial reporting and transactions.
Manage cash flow by monitoring accounts receivable and payable and optimizing cash reserves.
Provide financial advice and recommendations to management for decision-making, such as investment opportunities or cost-saving strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Second Class Upper/HND Upper Credit is a must) with relevant experience.
Professional certification in accounting (e.g., ICAN, CPA, ACCA).
