Federal University, Dutse is located in the ancient town of Dutse, the Jigawa State Capital, Northwest, Nigeria. The University focused on a strong tradition of distinguished scholarship, research, teaching and services that are organised to increase and disseminate scientific, humanistic, and social knowledge for the benefit of the larger society. The University was among the nine universities established by the Federal Government on the 9th February 2011. It has eleven (11) Faculties, including the College of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences and a School of Postgraduate Studies. It has a population of over twenty thousand (20,000) students.
The tenure of the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Dutse, will expire on 10th February, 2026. Consequently, the Governing Council, in accordance with the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act No. 11 of 1993 (as amended), invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Description
The Vice-Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the university, responsible for general supervision and administration.
He/she provides leadership in creating and maintaining academic standards and policies.
He/she is to ensure the responsible management of university funds and resources.
In addition, he must ensure peace, law and order within the institution while implementing policies and programmes. He/she is also the Chairman of the Senate and an ex officio member of the Governing Council.
Eligibility and Qualifications of the Applicant
The ideal candidate must:
Be a distinguished scholar with academic and administrative leadership abilities.
Hold a Ph.D. and be a Professor for at least five (5) years.
Have at least 15 years of experience in university teaching, research, and administration.
Demonstrate an ability to secure research grants and funding.
Have the ability to foster positive relationships within the university and beyond.
Exhibit high moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills.
Possess proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Possess effective communication skills.
Be mentally and physically fit.
Tenure:
The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years, non-renewable.
Age Limit:
Candidate must not be more than 65 years of age at the time of assumption of duty.
