Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Assistant
Location: Zamfara
Reports to: Hygiene Promotion Officer
About the Project
This project aims to enhance the resilience of the most vulnerable communities in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria by delivering integrated, multi-sectoral lifesaving services.
Special attention is given to the needs of women, children, and persons with disabilities.This role will support the implementation of the initiative: "Integrated Multi-Sectoral Lifesaving Assistance to Conflict- and Shock-Affected Populations in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria."
Job Summary
The position holder will support in designing, implementing, and monitoring hygiene promotion activities.
This role involves working closely with communities to raise awareness about good hygiene practices, reduce the incidence of diseases, and ensure the sustainability of WASH interventions.
The Hygiene Promotion Assistant will collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to drive behavior change and improve project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing training modules for the promotion of hygiene practices at the household and community levels.
Assist in conducting home visits and visits to the community (schools, health facilities, etc.) to identify gaps in terms of hygiene, sanitation, and use of water.
Organize emergency hygiene promotion awareness-raising sessions.
Mobilize communities and health facilities to adopt safe hygiene practices as promoted by the project (latrine construction, hand washing facilities, environmental cleanliness).
Assist in conducting training sessions for the community workers and/or targeted populations.
Conduct focus group discussions for Women and Girls to identify locations for the construction of WASH facilities.
Assist in the process of beneficiary selection to receive NFI assistance.
Assist in beneficiary registration.
Assist in distributing shelter, hygiene, and NFI kits to registered beneficiaries.
Qualifications
Minimum of National Diploma in Public Health or Health related field
Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited
Fluency in Hausa and English
Commitment to FINDEF’s mission, values and policy
Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local community.
