We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Assistant

Location:
 Zamfara
Reports to: Hygiene Promotion Officer

About the Project

  • This project aims to enhance the resilience of the most vulnerable communities in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria by delivering integrated, multi-sectoral lifesaving services.
  • Special attention is given to the needs of women, children, and persons with disabilities.This role will support the implementation of the initiative: "Integrated Multi-Sectoral Lifesaving Assistance to Conflict- and Shock-Affected Populations in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria."

Job Summary

  • The position holder will support in designing, implementing, and monitoring hygiene promotion activities.
  • This role involves working closely with communities to raise awareness about good hygiene practices, reduce the incidence of diseases, and ensure the sustainability of WASH interventions.
  • The Hygiene Promotion Assistant will collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to drive behavior change and improve project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • ​​​Assist in preparing training modules for the promotion of hygiene practices at the household and community levels.
  • Assist in conducting home visits and visits to the community (schools, health facilities, etc.) to identify gaps in terms of hygiene, sanitation, and use of water.
  • Organize emergency hygiene promotion awareness-raising sessions.
  • Mobilize communities and health facilities to adopt safe hygiene practices as promoted by the project (latrine construction, hand washing facilities, environmental cleanliness).
  • Assist in conducting training sessions for the community workers and/or targeted populations.
  • Conduct focus group discussions for Women and Girls to identify locations for the construction of WASH facilities.
  • Assist in the process of beneficiary selection to receive NFI assistance.
  • Assist in beneficiary registration.
  • Assist in distributing shelter, hygiene, and NFI kits to registered beneficiaries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Public Health or Health related field
  • Motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited
  • Fluency in Hausa and English
  • Commitment to FINDEF’s mission, values and policy
  • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local community.
