Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for an Embedded Systems & IoT Engineer, located in Abuja with some work-from-home flexibility.
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Systems & IoT Engineer to support the optimisation and manufacturing of ecoWise’s end-to-end embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities
Support manufacturing, testing of embedded hardware (sensors, microcontrollers, data acquisition systems)
Support PCB delivery, component selection and acquisition, and integration for devices.
Ensure compliance with relevant energy metering, electrical safety, and environmental standards.
Develop, test, and optimise embedded firmware for real-time data capture, storage, and transmission.
Implement protocols for data encryption, error handling, and failover mechanisms.
Ensure reliable, secure data streaming from remote solar installations to the ecoWise cloud platform.
Support the integration of AI/ML models and edge computing capabilities to reduce cloud dependency.
Define QA protocols to ensure accuracy, reliability, and security of all embedded systems.
Conduct field trials to validate performance under diverse environmental conditions.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (software, product, operations) to align embedded solutions with ecoWise’s business goals.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded applications.
Implement Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for real-time decision-making and automation.
Develop and analyze circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and embedded system designs.
Write and optimize firmware for microcontrollers (ARM, ESP32, STM32, etc.) and embedded hardware.
Integrate wireless communication protocols (LoRa, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G)
Conduct hardware debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of embedded systems.
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate an AI-driven Web application
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience.
Proficiency in Python, C/C++, and embedded firmware programming.
Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and embedded computing platforms
Ability to troubleshoot and debug embedded systems at both hardware and software levels
Proven track record in IoT product development from concept to deployment.
Proficiency with microcontroller platforms (ARM Cortex, ESP32, STM32, etc.) and development tools.

Knowledge of carbon credit MRV processes, renewable energy monitoring, or industrial IoT is an advantage.
