Job Title: Construction Project Manager / Construction Builder
Location: Lagos
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) or Managing Director (MD)
Position Overview
The organization is actively seeking an exceptionally experienced and highly skilled Construction Project Manager/Builder possessing a comprehensive background of 15 to 20 years within the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will exhibit an extensive portfolio encompassing projects executed with esteemed firms, including Dutum Construction Company, ITB Nigeria Limited, Elalan Construction Company, Cappa & D'Alberto PLC, Arbico PLC, Efficacy Group, SANA Group, and Stellar Construction.
This critical role requires exemplary leadership, strategic project management capabilities, and a proactive approach to overseeing a range of construction projects from inception through to completion, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards, budgetary limitations, and established timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership and Management:
Assume complete leadership of construction projects, coordinating efforts to guarantee timely completion within fiscal constraints and to exceptional quality standards.
Spearhead the development of extensive project plans that outline scope, schedule, and requisite resources, while remaining adaptable to changing project demands.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the primary liaison for all project stakeholders, encompassing clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Foster and sustain strong relationships to facilitate effective communication and alignment with client objectives, addressing any concerns or required modifications throughout the project lifecycle.
Budget and Cost Management:
Leverage financial management expertise to draft, monitor, and administer precise project budgets, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the project.
Conduct regular cost analyses and implement strategic measures to curtail expenditures while enhancing overall project profitability.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
Proactively identify potential risks and develop well-defined mitigation strategies to protect project progress.
Address challenges promptly with innovative solutions, ensuring continuity and alignment with project objectives.
Quality Assurance:
Establish and enforce rigorous quality control procedures that adhere to industry standards and local building regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to evaluate work quality, thereby ensuring that all activities comply with project specifications and contractual obligations.
Safety Compliance:
Promote an unwavering commitment to health and occupational safety at all construction sites.
Ensure that all personnel are well-acquainted with safety protocols and practices, conducting routine safety briefings and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
Reporting and Documentation:
Compile and deliver comprehensive project reports to executive management and relevant stakeholders, encompassing critical aspects such as project status, financial performance, and any deviations from the original plan.
Maintain meticulous documentation throughout the project lifecycle to support transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 15-20 years of demonstrated experience in construction project management and building.
Significant previous experience with distinguished firms such as Dutum Construction Company, ITB Nigeria Limited, Elalan Construction Company, Cappa & D'Alberto PLC, Arbico PLC, Efficacy Group, SANA Group, and Stellar Construction is essential.
In-depth knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
Exceptional leadership and organizational capabilities to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
Proficiency in industry-standard project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Piling, block setting, mechanical and electrical work, finishing, high-rise, mid-rise, and various construction level experience.
Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
PMP certification and/or additional relevant professional accreditations are preferred.
