Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineering Consultant to lead the evaluation and certification of electrical engineering contracts performed by contractors.
The consultant will ensure that all electrical works comply with contractual requirements, technical specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
This role involves close collaboration with contractors and client teams to provide expert assurance and support the successful delivery of electrical engineering scopes within large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
Review and evaluate electrical engineering contracts and contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with contract terms, technical specifications, and applicable electrical engineering standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
Conduct detailed assessments of electrical design documents, material certifications, test reports, and as-built documentation submitted by contractors.
Perform on-site inspections, witness electrical tests, and verify the quality and integrity of electrical installations and systems.
Identify non-conformances or deviations and collaborate with contractors to develop and monitor corrective action plans.
Prepare and issue formal certification reports confirming acceptance of electrical engineering works for client approval and payment processing.
Coordinate with contractors, client representatives, and project teams to facilitate clear communication and resolve technical or contractual issues.
Monitor project progress and risks related to electrical engineering scopes, advising the client on mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices relevant to electrical engineering and contract assurance.
Support contract close-out activities by ensuring all electrical engineering deliverables are complete and certified.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers or consultants involved in contract evaluation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng) are preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with significant exposure to contract evaluation, quality assurance, or consulting roles.
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
Proven experience in reviewing and certifying contractor electrical works in large-scale projects (e.g., infrastructure, oil & gas, manufacturing).
Excellent analytical, inspection, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple contract evaluations simultaneously.
Proficiency in relevant engineering software and document management systems.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemical, infrastructure, or heavy manufacturing.
Familiarity with quality management systems and non-conformance reporting processes.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations related to electrical engineering.
Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP) is an advantage.
