Job Title: Piping Design & Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose
To execute mechanical engineering tasks for static equipment and piping systems across the project lifecycle.
This role combines design expertise with engineering analysis to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient equipment and piping, from concept through to construction support.
Perform engineering calculations for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and other static equipment in accordance with ASME Section VIII, API 650, TEMA, and other applicable codes.
Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for the procurement of static equipment.
Evaluate vendor quotations, perform technical bid evaluations, and recommend suppliers.
Review and approve vendor drawings and design documentation (e.g., fabrication drawings, nozzle orientations, detail calculations) to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Provide technical support during the fabrication, testing, and installation of static equipment.
Piping Engineering & 3D Modeling:
Develop intelligent 3D models of piping systems, including pipe routing, components, and supports, using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
Prepare detailed 3D models of mechanical equipment and skids using Autodesk Inventor.
Generate and extract essential deliverables from models, including P&IDs, Isometric Drawings (ISOs), general arrangements, and fabrication drawings.
Create and update bill of materials (BOMs), equipment lists, and line lists.
Perform basic pipe stress analysis or interface with specialists to ensure system flexibility and nozzle load compliance.
Project Support & Execution:
Assist in the development of scope of work and Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation for static equipment and piping packages.
Provide essential mechanical engineering support during all project phases (FEED, detailed design, construction).
Run clash detection within the 3D model environment and resolve spatial conflicts.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination:
Serve as the primary technical contact for static equipment vendors, managing the review and approval of all deliverables.
Conduct reviews of contractor-issued mechanical/piping models and drawings, ensuring compliance with project standards.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) & Compliance:
Ensure all designs for static equipment and piping adhere to company safety standards, environmental regulations, and all applicable codes (ASME, API, PED).
Incorporate safety and sustainability principles into all designs.
Documentation & Standards:
Maintain thorough and well-organized documentation of all calculations, specifications, datasheets, models, drawings, and vendor correspondence.
Uphold and apply company engineering and design standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related discipline. (Mandatory)
Experience: 4 - 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on static equipment and piping design within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
Technical Skills (Mandatory):
Static Equipment Expertise: Proven experience in the design, specification, and vendor management of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, crane, mechanical handling devices and tanks. Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1, API 650/653, and TEMA standards.
CAD Proficiency: High proficiency inAutoCAD Plant 3Dfor piping modeling andAutodesk Inventorfor structural and equipment design.
Design Software: Experience with pressure vessel calculation software (e.g., PV Elite) andpipe stress analysis concepts using software like CAESAR II is highly desirable.
Codes & Standards: Working knowledge of ASME B31.3, and other relevant piping and structural codes.
Technical Skills (Preferred):
Experience with other CAD software (e.g., SOLIDWORKS).
Soft Skills:
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy in both engineering and design.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with vendors, team members, and other disciplines.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
