Job Title: Contracts & Corporate Advisory Lead
Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Role Purpose & Contribution
To ensure the organization's operations comply with relevant Nigerian legislation and statutory requirements
To ensure compliance with regulatory stipulations / industry legislations and provide advice and opinions on regulatory requirements
To provide legal support to the Head Legal
Role Accountabilities
Contract Documentation/Advisory:
Draft, review and endorse contractual agreements and maintain a Contracts Register
Negotiating medium to high risk transactions with very minimal supervision.
Assisting the Head of Legal with high risk transactions or leading on various Nigerian power/gas transactions and commercial negotiations.
Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
Negotiating with third parties, including regulatory officials and their counsel on behalf of the company.
Drafting and providing legal advice on corporate and commercial transactions.
Technical subject matter knowledge and experience in Gas and Power transactions would be an added advantage.
Legal and Corporate Advisory:
Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management.
Provide legal opinions and advise on matters relating to company’s business operations.
Develop & implement compliance culture sufficient to meet the law & corporate culture.
Researching and reviewing any new statutory and regulatory enactments that may affect the company and advising management accordingly.
Assisting the Head of Legal by intervening in regulatory issues and liaising with relevant regulatory agencies within the power sector.
Ensuring that the company complies with the requirements of the law within Nigeria and other relevant best practices.
Assisting the litigation team with necessary advice to management.
Interface with external counsel in respect of matters that the company is involved in and advice on strategy for management of issues or transactions.
Providing business advisory solutions to the company.
Providing company secretarial assistance where necessary.
Comply with Quality Management System / Operational Health & System requirements including objectives and applicable regulations relating to assigned jobs.
Perform any other duties as requested by the Unit Head and Head of Department.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Law and has represented corporate bodies in civil and legal matters
A master’s degree will be an added advantage
8 – 10 years of legal experience in a leading organisation with a proven track record of providing accurate and effective legal counsel, contract negotiation and drafting.
