About the Role
We seek an experienced, integrity-driven, and results-oriented Farm Manager to lead our nursery and tree farm operations.
The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end farm management, ensuring the highest standards in plant health, quality, and production efficiency.
They will also effectively lead both skilled and semi-skilled teams, applying the right management techniques to get the best performance from the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Farm & Nursery Operations:
Oversee daily farm activities, including propagation, transplanting, weeding, pruning, irrigation, and fertilisation.
Develop and implement seasonal planting schedules for both ornamental and indigenous species suited to landscaping and environmental projects.
Monitor plant health, soil fertility, water management, and pest/disease control using sustainable horticultural practices.
Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise and coordinate nursery and field staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
Provide training on plant care, nursery hygiene, safe chemical handling, and equipment operation.
Foster a safe, productive, and disciplined work culture.
Resource & Inventory Management:
Manage inventory of seeds, saplings, fertilisers, tools, and irrigation equipment.
Oversee procurement and ensure cost-effective use of farm inputs with minimal wastage.
Maintain nursery infrastructure, including greenhouses, irrigation systems, and storage facilities.
Quality Assurance & Project Support:
Ensure all plants meet defined quality, size, and health standards before dispatch.
Collaborate with landscaping and sales teams to meet project timelines and fulfil client orders.
Coordinate plant preparation for delivery, including labelling, cleaning, and packaging.
Administrative & Reporting Duties:
Maintain accurate records of planting schedules, input usage, workforce attendance, crop performance, and sales dispatches.
Prepare monthly operational reports and contribute to strategic farm planning.
Sustainability & Compliance:
Champion eco-friendly practices, including integrated pest management, water conservation, and use of organic inputs.
Ensure full compliance with Nigerian agricultural, environmental, and health & safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
B.Sc. or HND in Horticulture, Agriculture, Crop Science, Forestry, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience managing a nursery or horticultural farm in Nigeria.
Demonstrated integrity and strong ethical standards.
Strong knowledge of propagation techniques (seed, cutting, grafting, transplanting).
Familiarity with ornamental, indigenous, and exotic plant species in the Southwest region.
Proven leadership skills to manage both skilled and semi-skilled teams effectively.
Competence in basic farm management tools or mobile apps for recordkeeping.
Must be able to drive both a motorbike and a vehicle, with a valid driver’s licence.
Willingness to live in or relocate to Owode-Ofada, Ogun State.
Desirable:
Fluency in English and Yoruba.
Experience working with landscapers, estate developers, and environmental consultants.
