Job Title: Inflight Entertainment Engineer
Location: Lagos
Role Description
To plan, execute, and certify inspections, repairs, replacements, modifications, installations, and software/content updates for aircraft Inflight Entertainment (IFE) systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and OEM specifications.
The role also involves supervising technicians, managing documentation, liaising with vendors/OEMs, and driving continuous improvement to maximize IFE system availability and passenger satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair:
Plan, assign, and carry out inspections, fault isolation, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and modification tasks on aircraft IFE systems.
Rectify and certify IFE defects within the limitations of company and regulatory approvals.
Perform software/content uploads, system configuration, and version control in line with OEM and regulatory requirements.
Utilize Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) data to diagnose and resolve faults.
Installation & Modification:
Support installation or retrofit of IFE systems, including wiring, equipment mounting, and integration tasks.
Coordinate with OEMs and vendors during installation, modification, and upgrade projects.
Documentation & Compliance:
Develop, review, and revise engineering documents such as task cards,
AMM/IPC references, CMM updates, and modification work packs.
Maintain accurate aircraft records and ensure all maintenance actions are documented and signed off.
Monitor and implement applicable Service Bulletins (SBs),
Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and other mandatory requirements.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NCAA, EASA, FAA, and company regulations.
Supervision & Resource Management
Allocate daily work to technicians and monitor progress to ensure quality and efficiency.
Identify and requisition required IFE spare parts, tools, and consumables.
Train, mentor, and develop technicians to improve competency and troubleshooting skills.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify reliability trends and propose corrective/preventive actions.
Recommend procedural and technical improvements for system
performance and maintenance efficiency.
Liaise with internal departments, OEMs, and vendors to address
persistent issues and support product enhancement.
Safety & Reporting:
Promote a safe working environment in compliance with company
Safety Management System (SMS) policies.
Report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses in accordance with company reporting procedures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
95% IFE system availability fleet-wide.
All IFE defects rectified within agreed turnaround times.
First-time fix rate above target threshold.
Closure of passenger-related IFE reports (OT Is) within 72 hours.
Zero regulatory findings in IFE-related audits.
Reduction in repetitive IFE defects through trend analysis and preventive actions.
On-time and accurate completion of maintenance records.
Requirements
Education & Certification:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronic, Avionics, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline.
Vendor training on specific aircraft IFE systems (e.g., Panasonic, Thales, Safran, Collins) is required.
Basic Aircraft Maintenance License (Bl/B2) or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 3 years in IFE maintenance or engineering.
Experience in both line and base maintenance environments, including IFE installations and retrofits.

Customer service orientation with focus on passenger experience.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of IFE systems architecture, hardware, and software integration.
Ability to interpret and apply AMM, IPC, CMM, SBs, and ADs.
Proficiency with MRO software systems (e.g., TRAX, AMOS) and common office applications.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (NCAA, EASA, FAA) and industrial safety standards.
Advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation skills, including use of
BITE tools and test equipment.
