Summary
We are seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of GSO Assistant in the General Services Office.
Duties
This position oversees the varied GSO portfolios of Customer Service and Travel.
The position holder will assist two entry level Assistant General Services Officers at post to provide service support to GSO customers.
The position supports LE Staff employees and American direct-hires and their families assigned to Abuja and reports to the Supervisory General Services Officer (SGSO). This position requires a secret clearance.
Requirements:
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a secret security clearance.
All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Education Requirements:
University Degree in Mathematics, Psychology, Law, Business Management, or Communications is required.

Experience:
Two years of experience in logistics, procurement, project management, administrative/business management, or quality management and six months of supervisory experience is required.
Language:
Fluent speaking/reading/writing in English is required.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of regulations pertaining to GSO activities, including Federal Acquisition Regulations, Acquisition Regulations, Federal Travel Regulations is required.
Thorough knowledge of administrative and office procedures is required.
A general understanding of organizational structure in an Embassy is required.
General knowledge of host country business practices (e.g., bargaining practices, cultivating relationships with government and private sector contacts) as well as the general structure of local administrative offices such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diplomatic Services Bureau, Customs, Tax Authority and Motor Vehicle Authority is required.
Skills And Abilities:
Good oral and written communication skills, to include ability to write clear and concise documents, reports, program and policy guidelines and ability to deliver oral presentations is required.
Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to work with customers in providing clear, concise guidance and training.
Must be comfortable working with Embassy personnel and be able to respond with courtesy in handling stressful situations.
Must be an analytic thinker, and a problem-solver.
Must be able to type with emphasis on accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) is required.
